BWI Pool question

I hate to even ask because everyone is going to think I'm crazy. We decided not to do YC (even though I was dying too) because we felt after reading some posts that Stormalong Bay would be a little too much for our 2 smaller children. So after going crazy we booked AKL Deluxe Savannah View. We were watching AKL on the Travel Channel yesterday and my 2 dds were not impressed. They thought it looked "creepy" and "dark". Yeah, I know they're kids. We always stay at GF and maybe they've gotten used to light and airy. I thought we wouldn't be able to go to BWI because 6 year old dd has a "clown" issue, but when she saw it she wasn't afraid. She knew the difference between a fake clown and a real clown. Now we are rethinking again - before I get crazy and change our res again - can someone tell me if the Luna pool keister coaster slide are the children allowed to wear life vests are not. If not I'm not going to book it because I think 4 year old ds would feel left out. THen I'm back to scratch. Thanks.

Life vests are allowed on the Keister Coaster. My kids have never wanted to stay at AKL either, which I don't get because the love AK. Go figure. When we were planning our first trip years ago when the All Stars were new, I figured they would want to stay there, but no, they were not impressed! You never can tell with kids.

Thank you - I feel like CRO is going to think I'm crazy but you know kids. DH and I were disappointed but BWI looks like fun.

It's funny to hear someone else mention about the clown. We were at BWV in January and my DD-5 was acting very strange at the pool. She was playing and swimming but something wasn't right. After a while she finally said she was afraid about the clown! She never did get over it and really didn't want to be at the pool. She kept saying, let's walk down to the boardwalk or go to the quiet pool. Most kids are probably fine with it and it wasn't even a thought of mine in going there while planning at all. I guess for some, this clown could be scary. She kept wanting to go stay at the "one with the animals" (AKL where we stayed last Aug.!) But the BW is wonderful in all respects!! Make sure to check out the community hall, it is great for kids! Enjoy whatever you decide.

We have stayed at BWV many times. Our kids (4,6) love the clown slide. And as a previous posted stated, yes they can wear a life jacket on the slide. It is a big slide, much larger than the slide at AKL. I think that can be an issue for some kids that are not comfortable with the height. Life jackets are available at the Community Hall, so you don't need to bring one from home. There is also an elephant on the other side of the pool that sprays water. And a playground next to the pool.

I agree about the pool being a little "darker." It's because it's more closed in, with the buildings and trees closely surrounding it. That said, you do have more privacy at the BWI pool because you're not in a long row of chairs - the chairs are kind of in clumps around the pool. I prefer the atmosphere at the GF pools too.

We love the BWI pool, have stayed there twice and partially did so because we knew it would be easier to manage our kids there as opposed to SAB. Now that they are older we are trying YC next trip. But Luna Park Pool is really nice, great kids theme. I don't think it is dark at all.
