Just got a call from my TA. We have a deluxe(water view) room booked for 11/25-12/6. We can save $1,300 if we change to a villa. I've never been to the villas but have seen pics. It will be me, DH, and two teens. I don't plan on cooking, but I'm sure the kitchenette would be useful. I love the water view of the deluxe room, not sure what view we would have at the villa. I'm so confused, please help!!!!!!! Any suggestions would be a great help.

For me, the deciding factor would be the beds. At BWI, you'll get two queen beds and a daybed, so the teenagers won't have to share a bed. In a BWV studio, you'll have 1 queen bed, a full-size sofabed, and no daybed. The teenagers will have to share the sofabed, or you'll need to bring an air mattress.

$1300 is a substantial sum of money....only you and your teenagers can say if the sleeping situation matters enough to spend the extra money.

If the view is important than stay with the Inn reservation. Reservations for the villas get what is classified as a "preferred view" which is most likely the pool or garden areas. Boardwalk view is reserved for members staying on points.

Thanks, I think I'm going to stick with the Inn!!!

Very interesting. I did not know this. I have a January reservation and I am not staying on points. is there a chance that there will be a boardwalk view available when I get there (if all aren't taken by members) or will they just NOT assign the rooms to non-members as a strict rule?

If boardwalk view is not available, what would be the next best view? I think they have me booked with a courtyard preference at the moment....

Depends on when in January. The end of January there may (and I stress may) be something available but as a rule reservations made through CRO get the "preferred" view. I suppose it can't hurt to ask. Most probably, you 'll overlook a pool or the green leading out to the boardwalk.

Since preferred and boardwalk views cost the same number of points, members tend to go for guaranteed boardwalk first.

Jan. 21 - 26. Darn it. I really wanted a BW view.

Actually BWV members made such a stink about Boardwalk view, it never used to be a dedicated category, just luck of the draw. Since that stink DVC created the boardwalk view category with the caveat that it is only for DVC members staying on points. A member who is booked on points in a preferred room has a much better chance on getting moved into a boardwalk view than a cash paying one.

Is the villa a studio or 1 BR ??? In our 1 BR we had a king bed and a pull out queen sofa in the living room. The kicker for me was there were 2 separate bathing/vanity areas. The master bath area has a jacuzzi and vanity with closet. The main bath area connects with a door to both the master bath and the living room. That main bath area contains a toilet, sink, and shower.

In essence you have more privacy and more room to get ready in a 1BR villa.

We had a daybed in our studio (twice)...Just make sure to request a dedicated studio. The villas are very nice. The last time we stayed there, our garden view overlooked to courtyard that opened to the boardwalk. Are you sure your waterview overlooks the boardwalk and not maybe the pool? For me, that $1300 would go along way elsewhere. For $1300, my teens could "rough it."

The day beds in the dedicated studios are nothing more than a glorified luggage bench, they aren't to be used for sleeping anything more than a small child. They're basically 4ft upholstered bench. No mattress or bedding provided for it.

I need to clarify the "teen issue". It's my son and his girlfriend, so one of us parents would be roughing it, either me & girlfriend or DH & DS. I think we're going to stay at the Inn. According to my TA a deluxe room guarantees a boardwalk view.

Oh, forgot to say that our 1 BR was a "standard view" (years ago) and overlooked the quiet pool, Community Hall (?) and the canal, with MGM beyond.
