Do you check in at the main desk, or is there a check in area for concierge guests?

Let them know at the main desk that your are staying concierge and they will escort you upstairs to check-in at the concierge desk.

When we checked in during our October vacation we had to check in totally and completely at the front desk!

I am sure it depends on the time of day....we arrived around 10:30AM and even though the front drive was crazy...the front desk was not that busy. I didn't know to tell them we had concierge...I just waited as there was only one group ahead of us. When it was our turn...the girl that helped us was new..she asked me a few question but then someone looked over her shoulder and told her to handle us differently. She immediately told us to meet her at the carousell...she and her trainer led us to the concierge desk upstairs on the 4th floor.

I suppose, if you are comfortable enough, you could take the elevator (elevator bank is to the right if you are facing the lagoon) up yourself and attempt to check in there but you risk no one being there as they are in and out. The desk is just before the door that separates the concierge area from the rest of the hotel. If you take the elevator...take a right out of the elevator and another right at the T to the concierge desk.

I personally would rather have someone call from the front desk and alert the C people...getting off on the right foot seems a better choice.

They changed check in to upstair just before our January 2005 stay. We were instructed to tell the guard at the security gate we were checking in at concierge. When we pulled up to the drop off place someone from bell services was waiting for us. They unloaded our bags and took us straight upstairs where I was able to sit down at a nice desk with a very helpful concierge CM and check in. The bellman knew our room was already ready and took my husband directly to the room with the luggage. It was a nice expirience and started our vacation off nice and relaxing, not stressful like it can sometimes be at the front desks

Yep, they just started to check guests in upstairs for our Christmas stay. Wonderful addition to an already great concierge experience they provide.

Thanks for asking the question.

I just got my BWI letter today (yesterday) and it said to go to the front desk first.

Thanks for clearing that up shelleybaxter.

So which is it? I am confused. Why would you get a letter saying to go to the front desk, if check-in is upstairs? So, we wait in line just to be told to go upstairs. Makes no sense. I am checking in on Thanksgiving morning, so I am thinking there will be a crowd.

Susy,

I sent the same question to Amy with the concierge staff at BWI. I will post her reply as soon as I get it. If worse comes to worse, we are going to be there is September for our honeymoon, so I will find out then.

I just returned from a trip at the end of May. The bell services just told me to see the front desk first. There was no one in line so I went straight up to the CM at the desk politely introduced myself and advised that I was staying concierge. She then made a phone call upstairs and escorted us up. You will check-in at the concierge desk on the 4th floor. Concierge typically handles their guest where someone will meet you and take you up to the concierge level for check-in. I was earlier than expected and I don't know if bell services knew to call someone upstairs instead of directing me to the front desk or if I was handled just as I was suppose to be. The check-in procedure for concierge appears to be something new for BWI so I just went with flow. :teeth:

That would be a pain if there were a long line, though. We don't go until December so I will be curious to see what experiences people have in the meantime.

i would tell the security guard, or let the bell services people know they cna radio or call up and someone could come down to meet you.

Yes, please let me know when you hear from Amy. I just got an email from her today, welcoming us....It certainly doesn't make sense to have to wait in a long line, if you are going to be told to go upstairs.........

Long line at the front desk kind of defeats the purpose IMHO.

We were lucky and a CM from concierge that we knew was outside for something as we pulled up and took us upstairs.

Here is the official answer from Amy of the BWI Concierge staff.

"Please identify yourself as a concierge guest to our security guard, bell service or valet , they will give you access and you can check in on the 4th floor you will not need to go to the front desk. "

That should clear it up, I hope.

Paladin--what are your dates for your trip?? We are from SE Iowa and will be at the Boardwalk Concierge Nov 27th-Dec 4th. I see you are from Illinois so not too far away!!
