I've only used Southwest to fly from BWI to MCO. Are there any other airlines offering cheap non-stop flights? I'm willing to use DCA or IAD also.

Thanks!

Air Tran is the only other airline that flies non-stop out of BWI to MCO. US Airways flies nonstop out of DCA. Not sure of any other airlines. We always use Southwest but have seen some comparable deals posted by Air Tran.

What do you consider cheap? I know that Southwest and Air Tran were offering RT fares of about $175 when I book a July 04 trip. It is a real pain in the butt for us to go to either IAD or BWI, so I checked the fares out of National Airport and they were $216.00. That's really not horrible for a direct flight (USAirways) out of that particular airport. Plus, I booked kind of late in the game so if you had a lot of time you could probably do even better.

I paid about $175 using United nonstop out of Dulles for my trip coming up in September.

I'm paying $152 for my non-stop on United out of Dulles for July. I'm paying $176 for my non-stop on United out of Dulles for October. Right now the only non-stop carrier out of Dulles is United/TED. Independence air has started service out of Dulles, but has not yet added MCO to their destinations. I'm hoping they do. Delta used to fly non-stop carriers up until this year via SONG, but pulled out after only 6 months, taking the non-stop Delta flight with them. I love flying out of Dulles and find it one of the easiest airports to use.

I have flown in & out of BWI recently on both AirTran & Southwest (not to MCO though). Both airlines had reasonably good fares & good service. Just give yourself plenty of time!

We have used Southwest from BWI/MCO for the past several years because we wanted the non-stop and there seems to be more choices. Two years ago we left from Dulles because the departure times for us were better. I have to admit, we think we have better luck at BWI-just leave early.

Thanks everyone. I keep hoping JetBlue, TED or another "budget" airline will go straight to MCO.

We are flying out of BWI next week on Air Tran direct flight for $175 per person round trip with tax and fees. We are flying home direct on Southwest for the same cost. I have flown on AirTran direct out of BWI for as low as $130 round trip. My advice is get on both Air Tran and Southwest email list and about every week or so you will receive their special fares by email.

n2mm - WOW - You did get really great rates out of IAD. We were also disappointed that Delta does not have any direct flights anymore to MCO. We flew out of IAD on TED in May and our fare was about $218. We went from Saturday to Saturday. How far in advance did you book and what days are you traveling. Our flight left at 10 AM to MCO and left MCO at around 2 to IAD. We could have gotten a little cheaper flight if we had later arrival at MCO and earlier departure from MCO... Thanks.

Patty3--I booked our July trip in April. It was a "tedspecial" I was looking for Wed. 7/14 AM and returning Sat. 7/24 PM. But my fare was $197, so tried for returning Friday 7/23 PM and BINGO, it dropped $40 pp (x3 = $120 savings). We are out on the 8:30 AM flight on Wed. and return on the 6:30 PM flight Friday night. I like these 2 flights best. For my October trip, I booked a couple of weeks ago and leave Wed. 10/20 (8:30 AM) and return Sunday 10/31 (3:50PM).

Since TED is the only non-stop carrier now, I can spend more time watching the ONE carrier. I find that the rates and times available change almost daily. I'm now watching for some friends who are also leaving in October.

I do miss Delta because I loved their 7:30AM flight out and their 9:30 PM flight home (also have 2 $30 vouchers to use on them before Feb 2005). Not sure if I'll try Independence if it adds Orlando when they add more flights in the fall, but it's nice to have competition to keep the other airlines under control.

BTW--the only thing I notice about United is that the flights do sell out quickly, so has made me not wait until 3 weeks before my trip as I use to do when I flew Delta.

ALSO, CAROLE--TED does fly nonstop out of Dulles. I used it on my April/May trip and am booked on it for my July and October trips. (It's the only nonstop carrier out of Dulles, currently)
