We are staying in a 1 bedroom BW View room in March. I am trying to determine how to request the following.
-I want a see through balcony. I am short and if sitting down in the chair I can't see over the railing.
-Higher floor-I don't want ground floor

What section or request should I put in for our location?

I ...... was not aware that there is such a thing as a see through balcony. I, too, am too short to see over the railing when seated. You can see *through* the slats. I shall be following this thread with interest for myself! :-)

As for the higher floor, just request 'high floor' or 'not ground floor'.

Some of the balconies are fully closed due to the design of the building. I need one that has slats :) I don't want to stand the whole time on the balcony.

Huh. Well, if you email Member Services with your request you could go into that kind of detail - that you want an upper floor and you want one that has a balcony with slats as you'd like to be able to see through it when you're sitting down. If you do online checkin and have already emailed in your request(s), just ignore that step that gives you the option to input requests. Maybe others will chime in as to *where* the fully closed section is and you can then say "not there."

You got it. Room with a slatted balcony on higher floor. That's a request I use at VB since we discovered on our first trip there that they have some horrid, tiny solid wall balconies. At BWV though I'm fine with either.

If you request Crest O the Wave, they all have slatted balconies. I haven't had a lot of luck with boardwalk view requests. On my last trip, I requested top floor, close to the elevator. I know there are not many boardwalk view studios close to the elevators but I did have one over the store once. Ended up 3rd floor, about 5 rooms from the end of the hall (Crest O the Wave). Last time I had a 1 bedroom, was in 3001, the very last room.

The only 1BRs overlooking the boardwalk that have a wall running along the front of the balcony rather than see through railings are those on the second floor in the sections above the general store and the Big River Grill. Thus, requesting high floor is one way to avoid them although there are two 1BRs on the fourth floor above the Big River Grill that have balconies only outside the bedroom and not the living room, whcih you likely want to avoid.. Requesting Crest of Waves section is another way because all the 1BRs there have see through railings but you want to avoid the first floor there which is eye level with the boardwalk, and thus also request high floor if you go that route. I don't know whether the request is allowed but a third possibility id to ask for a dedicated 1BR because all of those have see through rails.

5th floor does have some rooms with balconies that are half solid with the short railing on the top. You can see them in the photo below on the top of the red buildings. They are certainly better than the solid wall balconies for sitting to view the boardwalk but still not ideal. It really irks me that the ONLY handicapped BW view room is on the second floor and has a solid wall balcony. So anyone in a wheelchair or scooter who can't stand to view the boardwalk (like my DH) has no BW view at all. I sometimes wonder why we bother to book BW view but I would miss the activity.

That makes absolutely no sense at all. YOu would think someone should have thought about that before they made those rooms handicapped??

Thank you for all the suggestions. I will just request high floor and take my chances.

Actually all the 1BR units on the fifth floor have a see through rail running in front of the balcony. They are not half solid with a half railing on top. That solid portion you see is actually on the outside of the balcony itself and rises up about a half foot foot from the floor level of the balcony while the rail balcony actually goes to floor level (I was just in one of those recently and I consider those 1BRs to have excellent views even when sitting). The rooms with a solid wall blocking view when sitting on the 5th floor are studios.
