BW Plus Anaheim Inn or Sheraton Park?

Hello everyone,

We are redeeming some miles for our hotel stay next May 2012 for 4 nights. For about the same miles, we can have either a suite (1 King, 2 doubles) at the BW Anaheim Inn, or a reg. room (2 queens) at the Sheraton Park. There 2 adults and 2 young children (5 yr old, and 11 months). The pros with the BW Anaheim inn is that it's walking distance and a larger room. However, there seem to be reports of cockroach or dirty rooms on the TA hotel reviews. With Sheraton, the room will be smaller and we'll have to take the ART shuttle, but would it be cleaner? Cleanliness is most important as my 11-month old will be crawling by then. Please let me know what are thoughts out there. Thanks.! BTW, we'll not have a car. We are planning to only do DIsneyland/California Park

Hmm thinking back to the stroller years, it would be nice to be to the parks in minutes rather than taking baby out of the stroller when the bus shows up to fold it up.

At Best Western Plus Anaheim Inn you get free fridge, micro, wi-fi, & parking. It will be slightly easier to take afternoon breaks at this hotel. With kids, I would stay here.

Sheraton Park Hotel although a little farther is definitely within walking distance (across Katella from the corner of DL on Harbor). With a basic reservation, there is no breakfast and you will pay for parking. I don't think they have a fridge, micro or free wi-fi unless you have "Club Level" reservation.

Warning though, this restaurant is not recommended by every DISer that I've read. It will be slightly easier to take afternoon breaks at this hotel. With kids, I would stay here.

You are referring to BW Park Place Inn. I don't think Anaheim in includes a breakfast, and it is a bit further away but easily walkable. I haven't stayed at either one though.

Oh, I think you are right. I'll fix that.

Before I reply I will say that we are huge Sheraton Park fans and we've never stayed at the BW.

SherPark has balconies (some full size and some not). After we put our daughter down we love to sit outside and chat.

There are fridges in the rooms

Depending on the weather at time of year you are going...SherPark has a big clean pool

There is a $15 parking fee, but there are lots of roomy parking spaces available.

We have AT&T cell phones and we have always had free wifi at the hotel

It's quiet and clean :) and within walking distance for us...you can also walk across the street and jump on the DL parking lot shuttle for free

Sheraton Park hands down!

I've stayed there a few times as a SPG Member and it is excellent! The reviews are great and it's actually received better ratings than 2 of the Disney hotels. It is clean, well kept, and very comfortable. All rooms have either a balcony or patio. It's an easy choice, especially because you wouldn't want to risk a cockroach infestation... ewww!

Lots of love for the Sheraton Park here! I have not stayed there, but with these great reviews and the nice pictures on the web site, maybe I was wrong in my earlier post! :rolleyes1

Thank you so much for the replies. I think I'm now leaning towards the Sheraton. Just out of curiousity, does anyone have any experience upgrading to Club level at check in? The miles that we're converting will only get us regular room, and I'm wondering if it'll be reasonable or even possible to upgrade. With 2 young children, it might be easier to have the continental breakfast available.

To those with SPG membership, my miles will be converted to SPG points, which will then be redeemed for the free nights. So, is it possible to upgrade to Club at check in with payment? Thanks again.:)

I work for Starwood, yes if there is availability they should be able to upgrade you at check in (for a price) I  the Sheraton Park Hotel

Hi TinkLoverSam,
Thanks for letting me know of the possibility. Would you be able to let me know of usually the price range? Are we talking about $25-$50? $50-$75? $75-$100? Or more like greater than $100 per night? THanks again.

I've looked at staying at the Sheraton Park for previous trips...How far is the walk to the DL parking lot shuttle? Do you walk to the Timon parking lot? :confused3

That I'm not sure, as it depends on the hotel. What I would do would be to go online and price a regular room vs a club level room, the price difference is what I would think the upgrade charge would be. At least that's how it ranges at the property I work for.

I just checked their website and a traditional room was $159 and a club level room was $214 so I would guess upgrades to be in the $55 dollar range.

I just walk straight down Harbor to the main entrance and i'd say the walk is 10 to 15 minutes depending on how fast you walk.

We were at the Park Sheraton in August and were able to upgrade to a club room using our SPG points. It was 1000 points per night. It is on a space available basis but for some rates you may be able to book up to 5 days in advance by calling SPG. If you are using points for your stay, you can book a club level room for 8000 points per night, with the 5th night free.

We were totally spoiled by having access to the club. The only bad thing is that it doesn't open until 7 am on the weekends. -- Suzanne
