I'm here, Chris, even if I'm not a Buzzie. I'll see if I can track Allie down for you. And as we get more interest in teams I'll send some fresh blood--er, feet--your way. :goodvibes

And I keep saying this, but thanks for the Goofy support thread! I'll be hobbling over there soon. (Started my training this weekend.)

Chris, I will send Allie a message on facebook to check on her!

I will post my July totals in the July thread later.

I got out early this morning at 5:45 am to get in a 12 mile run. I ended up running with the Army for a few miles this morning. They were doing some sort of drill on the course I typically run. It made my morning. I hope everyone has a great weekend. :goodvibes

I just got back from Chicago and will post my July totals sometime in the next few days.

I think I did too much sightseeing yesterday, because I just wasn't feeling it today. My official time was 2:22:59, and I was hoping for closer to 2:10. I ran the whole time, but slowly. I'm starting to wonder if a run/walk plan might work better for me.

My legs aren't feeling too bad. My feet are actually in worse condition. I somehow strained the top of my left foot, and I have a massive blister on my right big toe. I'll probably take the next week off because I'm too squeamish to pop the blister but don't want to wear shoes until it gets better.

Lisa, Congratulations on your time, some people would have stopped if they had strained their foot, you didn't!!!!!

Chris, I see that you are doing the Nationwide Better Health Half Marathon, Columbus. Have you done this before?? or do you know the area?? i am think of driving up for the full and I would appreciate any input.

Hello, Buzzies! I'd like you to welcome two new teammates:

Spartan7: James, a DR person (I think there are several of you who are DR people)

RaisedonDisney7106: Heather

I know you'll help them feel right at home. :goodvibes

Welcome James and Heather. This is where the cool kids hang out.

I know Chris and I also post on the DR board, not sure who else. I also post a very little on the Disney Deads board.

Casey, how cool, running with the Army.

Lisa, you did good - finished! That's what counts. 14 minutes over your goal is nothing! Remember what is on the back of our shirts.

enjoy all,
Duane

Welcome James and Heather. This is where the cool kids hang out.

Thanks for the welcome! I'm excited to have another race to train for. The last race I ran was the princess half marathon in March. My husband and I paid to participate in the muddy buddy at the wide world of sports and I also paid for the danskin sprint tri at fort wilderness that same weekend, but our dog was healing from surgery and we couldn't leave him. It was frustrating wasting so much money that I haven't signed up for a race since then. I decided last week that I was going to start training for the disney marathon and sign up for the race in a couple months, or before it fills up! This will be my first marathon and I may be biting off more then I can chew, but I think I can do it. I have 23 weeks to train and build my mileage up, which is very low now, 3-6 miles usually. Hopefully this will be enough time and I can cross the finish line on 1-10-2010. Looking forward to getting to know everyone on the team!

Heather

:welcome: Heather You have plenty of time to train, my DH is going goofy and he hasn't started yet....but he did do the marathon last year without a single day of training :scared1:

I did the Princess too, I had 4 weeks of training for that!!!

Don't worry about not being able to finish.....all WISH members finish, we support each other cross the line, people will be with you on the course and the ones who have finished will be on the side :cheer2: There is also a fantastic WISH crew that man the offical water stops and some unoffical places as well!!

Syko and Duane, Thanks for the kind words. I felt frustrated after the race because my training had gone so well the week before and the race day conditions were perfect - no hills or hot weather. But I know we all have off days and I'm definitely proud of myself just for finishing. 13.1 miles is still the longest distance I've ever run. And I can still remember the days when I thought I'd never be able to run that far at all.

Welcome to James and Heather! It's great to see some more activity in our group.

Welcome to the team Heather and James.

James - Yes Duane and I are a part of DR and post pretty regularly over there.

Lisa - It's all good. Finishing = Awesome!!!!

Kirsite~Louise - Yes I did the Half last year here in Columbus. It's a really flat course for the half and had pretty good crowd support I felt. I live in the area so I can try and answer any questions you have. :thumbsup2

Chris Any advice on hotels??
Would I be able to stay outside and drive in to the start or would I be better off with a hotel near the start and crankin to the line? And how COLD will it really be???

I got into the New York Marathon

I found out at midnight last night!!!! There are only 50 crank spots this year and I got slected, I know I will come last, but I will be racing with the worlds top crankers.....and I'll be on my training wheels:rotfl2:

YAHOO! That is great news. You'll be in the top 50. That's pretty good!

On a side note I saw James posting on anther team so he may not be joining us.

enjoy,
Dune

Some of my parts turned uo yesterday, but not enough to get me back on the road.
I could not believe that I got slected for NYC, I didn't bother to book a hotel room and now they are all booked (well anything under $1000):scared1:

The problem is that there is only one pick up spot for chairs and you really need to be close to it.

Wanted to a quick stop by the Buzzies to say,

CONGRATULATIONS!!

That's great news! :yay:

I'm Here!! I'm Here!!! :cheer2::dance3::lmao::wave:

Syko - Congrats on the NYC!!! That is awesome! Sorry for all your bad luck recently too

Casey & Debra - Thanks for checking in on me over there on FB! It has been a crazy summer. Not much training for me. I'm trying to train for a local half here in Nov.

School starts on Monday so hopefully life will get on some sort of schedule so I can check in more often.

I'm FB friends with Jessica on FB, so I'll check in on her too, but I think she has had a busy summer too. ;)

The great thing about Facebook is you can keep up with your friends.... Now I have to hunt for Casey and Jessica.

Syko - Congrats again on that NYC Marathon entry. Good Luck!!!

HI Buzz's Brigade.

After some confusion (mostly on my part) I've learned that I should be over on this team. I just started, even though I did want to join WISH in February.

I raced in the Mickey for 2009, and will be returning for the Goofy in 2010. I hope to help this team out, as I usually do get a fair amount of mileage per week/month.

Happy to be here, and ready to serve!

-James
