Hello! We are going to DW in May - yeah! My son will have just turned 5. Can anyone compare Buzz to MIB at universal. Unofficial guide does not rate MIB for his age (yet his age group rates the Mummy??). Is MIB much scarier or more intense than Buzz? I had not planned to take him on dinosaur after reading some threads on here - yet Jurassic Park gets 3 stars for pre-schoolers. Is dinosaur worse? Thanks for your help!

Buzz is easier on little kids because of the whole toy story theme. MIB is a lot more immersive and detailed, yet it's fun scary as well. JPRA and dinosaur are 2 totally different rides. dinosaur is dark throughout, with sudden movements and some quite scary effects. JPRA starts as a raft trip through JP, and ends in the dark with scary dino encounters and the highest drop on a water ride on earth. I've seen young kids cry on all 4. :D

I've never been on MIB, but Buzz will definitely be ok. Besides the toy story theme, it's also interactive and it's like you're in your own video game! It's a lot of fun for adults also. DInosaur might bescary- it's very dark and might be life like for a young child. Maybe you can go on it first and see what you think.

MIB should be fine for 5yr. old. It's not too dark in there, and the aliens aren't really scary, more funny looking. And he'll be shooting them with a laser, which is a plus. He'll be too busy too notice about being scared.

JPRA is a mostly outdoor river ride, just like going through the park in the movie but on boat. The only scary part is at the end right before the drop, it looks as if the T-Rex is swooping down on you as the boat drops, but you could tell him about it beforehand. I find this a good idea with my 3 yr.old. She's much better when she knows what coming. The drop at the end is a decent size too, but my 6yr. old did fine.

Dinosaur is somewhat intense , it's dark, and somethings jump out at you while you car is bumping around. DS,6 had no problem and thought all of them were great.

Thanks for the responses!

Good thoughts, 'the kabuki', judging by the way he "lasers" everything at home he will get right into it on the ride...

MIB is not scary. Its just another laser shooting game, like Buzz. Different themed, but I don't think it look real. He should be fine.
I cant remember if Dinasour had a drop in it, at the last? Does it?

Didn't do Jurassic as I don't like wet rides in the cold. Dinosaur is kinda scary for that age. MIB was awesome. My kids (a bit older at 15, 11, 8) loved it and did it probably 3 or 4 times but it does whip you around a bit, spinning and whatnot. I thought it was waaaaaay better than Buzz but then again I think Buzz is dull.

Incidentally if you're doing Universal and can baby-swap, definitely do Revenge of the Mummy - WOW!!! That was our favorite of all the rides we have EVER been on.

What is revenge of the Mummy like? Isn't it a roller coaster? I loved Spiderman when we went. I guess we rode that 6 or more times. It was my favorite, guess I will have to try the Mummy next.

I definitely plan on doing the Mummy - was hoping they do the swap as well. Actually the Mummy was why I was confused. Unofficial Guide actually had 2 stars for this as preschooler ride and 3 for Jurassica Park, yet MIB had no responses - I would think Mummy would be much scarier - won't be taking my son on it!!! Thanks!
