A while back, I read that they were trying to start a new character breakfast -- has anyone heard anything else about this??

Many CMs insisted this meal would happen but never gave any indication of when. The rumors have quieted as of late. If you are really interested, you should contact WDW directly via the email address on the Walt Disney World site.

I was hoping for this too, but each time I call Disney Dining I get a different answer. I wrote to WDW and got an email that was a legal thing stating they could not accept suggestions from guests.
Let us know if you have any better luck.

I called wdwdine last week and asked them myself. They said that they were in the beginning stages of trying to do a Buzz/Woody bfast at MGM. However, they said it is in the very begninng stages and would probably not be ready anytime soon. I am going in OCT and my DDs love Buzz and Woody. SHe said to call back ina few weeks and maybe she could tell me more but not to look for it by October. PLEASE post if you hear any new information. Thanks!!!!!!

I spoke with a very helpful CM Sun. who said it is in the planning stages but they are still not sure of the location. She also said this is the work of the same man (Vice Pres??) who got the new Princess breakfast started. I'm hopeful.

PLEASE
How hard could it be to get a breakfast together?
Our kids would love this!

I'm still upset over the loss of the Villians Dinner and replacing it with Winnie the Pooh.

My son(8) was rather disappointed. They changed it 3 days before we left. Luckily, Thanks to this board I found out about it before I left and was able to change the ressies to O'Hanas.

Buzz would be nice, but I am not holding my breath. Disney seems to only like Pooh, Mickey and Princesses for Character meals.

I agree about the Villans, if you are going to remove that at least come up with something Innovative, its as if us die hard WDW fans are forgotten. I think outside of the Imagineering department, which are brilliant, you have some pretty uninspired thinkers. Have you ever seen some of the lame toys they come up with at the Disney Store ? I'm dying to waste some money on my little girl and I can't tell you how many times I leave empty handed. Hey, lets make Buzz Lightyear in different colors !

It's pretty funny as Michael Eisner, after Disney's stock stagnated recently, said something like "with our proprties (characters) we should be able to turn this around and be very successful". Well the reason they are having so many problems, in my opinion is they don't use the characters we know and love well enough in the first place.

Talk about a way to boost sagging attendence, if they had a Toy Story meal, the entire state of Florida would be there the next weekend. If they did have this meal they would have to have it a four different spots to offset the demand. How about a Snow White and the Seven Dwarves meal or a Peter Pan meal. They have all these costumes already made and used at times.

OK, I'm done with my rant.

PS. Here's a tip for those of you who need to see another character outside of Mickey & Friends,Pooh & Friends, or the princesses. Rafikki and Timon are at the Swan, I think 2 nights a week. The restaurant is a little pricey but it wasn't crowded and my daughter had a great time with Rafikii last year. Especially nice if you are staying in the Epcot resort area since its so close.

Actually, you would be surprised at what goes into this! First, they have to secure the restaurant in which to have the breakfast-- and make sure that it fits the theming. Then they have to come up with the menu. After that, they have to either hire, or crosstrain to provide adequate, trained waitstaff. They also may have to hire and train new characters, or redo schedules to allow those characters who appear regularly in the park to appear. Finally, they have to incorporate it into the reservation system.

There is alot more to it than meets the eye... it looks like it should happen overnight and be magic, and yes, this is Disney, and we do have this misconception because they are good at making it all look so easy!

I hope that everyone that wants a Toy Story Breakfast gets their wish, and it is half as good as the new Storybook Princess Breakfast.

A Toy Story breakfast would rock! I was really sad that the Villains dinner was discontinued before we ever got a chance to experience it, too. That would have been great. One of our very best character interactions this past June was with Cruella. She was a riot, and I can only imagine how fun a whole bunch of Villains would be. Disney, bring 'em back, please!!!

I can't find the thread, but one of the WDW CM's said that part of the problem was the size and costumes of the characters make them very hard to interact with diners.

Have you ever noticed that at MGM, Buzz and Woody have to "stamp" their signatures? ;)

The only Toy Story characters I have seen walking around (NOT COUNTING THE ONES IN PARADES) were Buzz, Woody, and Jessie.

Has anyone else seen the others?

As far as location, MGM would be logical but I think it isn't a far stretch to see a Buzz Lightyear etal in Future World at Epcot somewhere. I know there isn't a restaurant there right now, but just wanted to point out that there are places they can fit the theme into. I am sure they are doing their best to make the perfect fit. Although it doesn't make us less impatient to see if happen.

I saw the army men in MGM on my last trip. They showed up in a truck, marched around, signed autographs, did some antics and then got back on the truck and left. It was cool.

The had their feet connected together like the plastic toys.

Pete's Mom,
Last December, Woody stamped my DD's autograph book.....but this past week I was thrilled and surprised to see that he actually signed her book! Jessie did as well.
Just FYI...
I also would love to see a Toy Story Breakfast, but wouldn't volunteer to put it all together!

I think they could reopen the Odyssey Restaurant in Epcot and have Toy Story meals there all day. From what I am reading right here, there sure would be the demand for it!

I certainly would love to see a Toy Story character breakfast!
