We road the new Buzz ride yesterday and like it a LOT better than the WDW version except for one thing - our scores. Either we don't know what we're doing or it's much more difficult to score on the DL ride.

Any hints or tips you can share for me to beat DH next time around? ;)

Thanks!
PJ

Scores are: triangles highest, then squares, then circles.

Try for the hidden Zs for bonus points - there are two in the tunnel w/lights. My dd beats me by a few hundred thousand points. She thinks I don't aim.

I've ridden it 3 times so far. 2 scores around the 40K mark and one about 350K.

The high score was a fluke we got stopped for about 3 minutes in the battery room for a wheel chair unloading and just sat there shooting the same target over and over. In DW my only ride was about a 75K score, so I thing the DL ride has lower point values for the hits.

Thanks Mary Jo! Neither one of us even hit 100K! I did realize I actually have to keep hitting the trigger and can't just hold it down like at WDW.

What's a hidden Z?

The targets are shaped like Zs inside a different shape -- in the tunnel there are two Zs - one at the beginning & one at the end. My dd, who has ridden the BLZB more often than me (at least, that's the excuse I like to use), gets a much higher score than I do - she's found the hidden targets and is quite good at aiming.

Actually, there are four in the tunnel--one on each wall and two on the ceiling; one at each end. Definetely go for the triangles and diamonds. Also, hit the targets multiple times if you can.

My new high score is 635,500 from yesterday, but it gets a big ol' asterisk next to it because I got stopped twice. Once in the tunnel where I could hit the hidden ceiling target and then again only a minute later in the next room right next to the pop-up triangle target. I regurlarly hit over 150,000 though w/o the ride stopping.

iceskatejen - have you been able to hit the target on Zurg?

I can't even hit the ones in the tunnel, let alone that one. I'll let my dd know there are two more in the tunnel - that'll make her happy.

My scores are pathetic, but I still have fun playing.

Amen to that- I have a horrible aim so never do well and I get alot of "courtsey points" (ie points ya get when ya just pull the trigger- I think its every 3-4 pulls you get 100)

The hidden target on Zurg? No, but not for lack of trying. I thought I came pretty close yesterday, but my score didn't go up, so i'm guessing I didn't quite get it. I do best in the Planet Z room.

I haven't been on the DL ride yet .... I can't wait!!!

When we rode Buzz at WDW, I kept getting much higher scores than my DS, and we thought it might be because he always got into the car first. We switched it around, and then he kept scoring higher than me.....So, we figured that the right side had an advantage. Has anyone noticed an advantage of one side or the other for the DL ride?

Is that true that you can just keep the trigger depressed all the time like WDW ?

Advantage? Hey, that's what I'm going to tell my dd - that the first person to get in gets an advantage. I think Disneyland Emily beat me the last time we played - so I like that reasoning! :p

Judy -- You have to keep pulling the trigger. If you hold it down nothing will happen after that first shot gets off.

I shall put that to the test when I'm there- I'll have 3 days before the LP meets start on the 15th and I'll have to test right vs left

Now I actually got higher scores on the DL ride than the WDW one (prefer the DL ride, seems more interesting and fun and with the flashing targets you know when you have hit it!), my score is way below the ones mentioned here though and I thought I did well!

I saw a show on the Travel Channel that had a short introduction to Astroblasters. They said that the lasers shoot out in a cone shape meaning that the laser is wider the farther out it shoots. Therefore it is easier to shoot targets that are far away and score more points. I do not know if this is true but I found it interesting.

The left side of the car seems better at DL (the person who gets in first gets the left). I usually ride solo and I always sit on the left.

I don't think it's true because I have been trying to get the far away targets (they're worth more points at WDW so was trying anything to get my score up yesterday). However, if the cone part is true then you may need to aim the gun so the outside of the cone hits the center of the target on the distance targets instead of trying to aim the center of the beam. Maybe I'll try that today. ;)

Thanks for all the help! Today's our last day and are feet hurt but we're still hitting EE!

You can score high by shooting at the same target several times. You can hit the same "Z" a few times until you're out of range.
