Buying UT tickets too soon?

We are planning an October 2016 trip. I was hoping to purchase Undercover Tourist tickets to maximize the discount. I want to buy 4 day PH/WP tickets then bridge them to 8 day PH (I did this in 2014 without a problem). I just got an email from UT about proces going up soon. My concern is if I buy them too soon and for some reason Disney changes their policy on ticket changes. Would you buy them now or wait until closer to the trip? Any advice appreciated!

That isn't something I personally would worry about.

Losing the tickets, however, is something I would worry about.

Guests can link UT tickets to MDE as soon as the tickets arrive in the mail (or even use the UT "eTicket" numbers in MDE.)
Once linked, the physical tickets are no longer required.

The only issue would be if they change the ticket system with tiering and you can no longer have what you want.

Thats what I'm afraid of, buying the waterparks and parkhopper option to get the biggest discount then being told "sorry you can only change the number of days, not remove the waterpark options". We had no problem doing it before but you never know.

I bought ours a few weeks so for May 2016. They are in our safe. @Robo should I link them now? I was going to wait until closer to our trip in the event we had to cancel we could return the tix. (I.e. Major family disaster, etc.)

I have had my UT tickets for many weeks, now, holding them for a late Jan. trip.
If you don't link them to your MDE account, the tickets remain refundable by UT for up to a year from their purchase date.
(Once you DO link them, they are non-refundable.)
I, like you, have not linked my UT tickets to my MDE, just in case of a need to cancel the trip (you just never know.)

My FP+ booking date is coming up near the end of this month, so I'll link the tickets at that time.

BTW, if it's an issue of "losing" the actual tickets before you use them or link them to MDE,
it's worth noting that UT keeps a record of the numbers on the tickets that you purchase from them,
so that they (UT) can be of help if you happen to misplace those tickets.

If you have the ability to purchase them now the go for it before the price goes up.

I can't imagine the ticket you buy now would be useless even if there is a change implemented. It would be no different than someone buying tickets from the Disney site today but not using them right away. Disney is going to honor the tickets in some manner. But I wouldn't buy 4 now and upgrade to 8 later unless you don't care about the 4 days worth of FP till after you upgrade

UT does have a blurb on their website about buying now before the Annual Price increase. I do not know if they have heard rumblings and expect a change soon, if they just expect a change because they usually raise them annually or if they put that on there to increase ticket sales now. But I don't recall seeing it before.

There are rumors of another price hike?
They raise prices every year so in some ways it's expected and no increase would be a surprise
But the rumor of tiered pricing is based on a survey that circulated a few months back and fueled when they made some changes to the AP structure this year
