Ok, I am messing around with my dates and it looks like there is no discount for booking as a package for late Aug 08. So, I am thinking of just booking my room to get it, and adding on tickets later. Does anyone know what the difference is pricewise between tickets bought at the gate/resort or in advance? My vacation will be $929 for a week room only at the POR, plus either $967 or $1183 for 4 day tickets (I am undecided between parkhop and no parkhop). That's $2112- about the same as a package. Sooooo..I am thinking of just booking room only and getting tickets later. I was confused trying to read mousesavers...I can only do a 4 day ticket, ok maybe 5 day ticket if we get in early enough.

The reason I want to book the plan this way is I am worried DH might not be able to get off work. If I book room only, I can cancel a week in advance and still get my money back, if I am not mistaken. If I do a package, I have to pay in full 45 days out and if I cancel a week in advance I lose $200. I know for room only I have to put a one night deposit down, but I can get that back if I need to. Any thoughts? Especially about buying tickets at the resort?

A 4 day MYW adult ticket purchased on the WDW website is $212.00 each (225.78 w/tax) which equates to $53.00 per day ($56.45 including tax). If you wait to buy them at the gate, the price rises. The cost of a 1 day ticket price rose in August from $67 to $71 so it's cheaper to buy multi-day tickets. ****Note also that unlike past Magic Your Way pricing, Disney is NOT offering any discounts for purchasing tickets online in advance. Effective August 2007, the prices online are the same as the prices at the ticket booths. (And, if you choose to pay for shipping, the price will actually be higher.)

Remember, when you book a package, you're basically getting a discount off the room and whatever else the offer includes. Tickets are generally not discounted unless there's some special promotion that offers discounted tickets, which is not too often.

So, just to make sure I got this straight..starting this month, there is no benefit to buying tickets in advance, they are going to be the same price now or the same price next week or anytime in 2008 if I buy them through Disney- either in advance or at the gate? Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.

It's most likely that Disney will not have another price increase this year. The increase in ticket prices the last 2 years have occurred in August. If you buy them now, you lock in the price of the tickets no matter if the price increases in the future. This does not hold true for room reservations when making them for the next year prior to the rates being released for the current year you are making the ressie.

I booked our June, 2007 stay in August, 2006. I booked our June, 2008 stay in August, 2007. I always book a package because, if the ticket price increases before we go, I am already locked in at the present ticket price.
