Buying tickets on ebay

Okay, I am not going to be buying my tickets from ebay (that is too much $$ for me to spend over ebay - I'm not THAT trusting), but when I was looking on ebay for fun, someone had listed...

2 Magic Your Way Premium Tickets with two days left on each on them. THESE TICKETS ARE ONLY VALID UNTIL MONDAY APRIL 18, 2005. I will overnight these tickets to the winning bidder the day the auction ends. These are Magic Your Way Premium Tickets which were originally seven day passes, which we used 5 days.

The ticket entitles you to admission to the following theme parks for 2 days with the ability to visit multiple Theme Parks on the same day. Each day the ticket is used at any theme park constitutes one full day of use, and both days must be used by Monday April 18, 2005.

Magic Kingdom Park ~ Disney-MGM Studios ~ Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park ~ Epcot

This ticket also includes one visit to one of the following: Disney’s Blizzard Beach ~ Disney’s Typoon Lagoon ~ Downtown Disney Pleasure Island ~ DisneyQuest ~ Disney’s Wide World Of Sports Complex.

Since I knew that with the Magic Your Way passes, each person gets their finger scanned, I e-mailed the seller to see how he could resell these. His reply was...

They do scan your fingers, but I was told that it was only to prevent same day use. They scan your fingers for each day, since the passes can be used multiple times a day. They don't want people entering the park, then sending one person out of the park to let more people in with the passes. This is what disney told me. If it were a problem, and my information is wrong, I would issue a full refund, along with shipping. Thanks.


I think the winning bid was $105.00. I was just curious as to what others thing. I figured that because of the finger scan, only one person could use the tickets. Am I wrong? I am afraid that someone is going to get to WDW and be very disappointed when they try to enter with these tickets. What does everyone else think?

Took me too long to post! That was what I thought. I figured that Disney was getting annoyed about the ebay sales. I'm sure most were legit, but there were a few fraudulent ones too, I bet. I feel bad for the "winner" but they really should be more aware.

I went to ebay to look for the sale, but it's not in the completed items, so I wonder if ebay deleted the auction.
We just got back from WDW on 4/11 and saw one family get sent to Guest Services from the turnstiles because their finger scans didn't match and they did not have ID.
Another family got turned away because they had 2 tickets with 2 days on each ticket and were trying to get 4 people in with those same 2 tickets. Wooow, was that guy ever mad.

There are a couple other auction in the title it says "Magic Your Way" but in the auction description does not say that. They could just me older tickets and the people put the title as a catch phrase.

I'm wondering are people allowed to buy MYW tickets and sell them as long as they haven't been used at all?

So the person would have to get all the way to the park and figure this out themselves! Crazy!!!

Also isn't your name on ticket? I thought your name is on it for some reason... Or it's tied to your room key if you stay on the resort.

I am able to see it because I had it as one of the auctions that I was watching in My Ebay. It looks like the auction ended as scheduled, and the winning bidder will pay $105.00 plus $12.00 S&H for worthless tickets. The seller did tell me when I emailed him that if they didn't work, he would refund the money - but that wasn't listed in the item listing. Hopefully he mentioned that to the buyer, so it won't come as a suprise to them when they are turned away at the gate. Maybe $117.00 isn't a lot of money to some people, but it is enough for me that I would at least research the item before I bid on it.

Do you think I should send an email to the winning bidder to tell him that we think the tickets probably won't work, or should I just mind my own business ? I don't want to butt in where it isn't my business, but if it was me, I would appreciate if someone at least let me know if they thought I might encounter a problem. I though maybe I would just tell them what we have discussed on the board here and tell them to call Disney to be sure?

****Actually, I just noticed that the tickets expire April 18th, and the seller was going to overnight the tickets to the buyer. I am probably too late to warn the buyer anyway!

I can't believe 20 people bid on them. Well I guess if you bid $20 and happen to win them that's one thing, but over $100! And you know if it was a 7 day ticket they paid what? Like $280 or something like that? And they buyer paid about $105... so they only paid $180 or something for 5 days use.

For some reason I thought they had your name associated with the ticket. Because I heard sometimes the biometric scan might fail but if you show your ID and it matches they are OK with that.

This would be considered auction interference, and is an ebay violation. If the buyer reports it to ebay - or tells the seller and they report it to ebay - then you will end up in trouble.

The auction can be reported to ebay. It is against ebay rules to list partially used tickets. That's why when you see tickets that are obviously multiday tickets, they are not saying they are selling the 2 days they have left out of a 7 day ticket. Most of the time, they will say it is a 2 day ticket (even if the printing on the ticket in the picture says its more than that). Ebay can cancel the auction/sale if it is for a prohibited item.
That's why I thought the auction was gone when I couldn't find it (I don't know why it didn't show up because I searched for "Magic Your Way" in both the title and description.

If that is the case, then if the bio's don't work, they will ask (they are suppose to, often they just hit a button and the gate opens) for your ID. They will then make you sign the ticket and from then out it's yours. I wouldn't take a chance on this type of ticket. I have bought and sold the old hoppers, on eBaym and it's legal do do so in NY, as long as I didn't sell to someone in Florida, but this is really taking a big chance.

The tickets say on them that they are non-transferable and are to be used by the same person for every and all days. Since this is a Florida law, some people interpret it to mean that if you sell the tickets in Florida, you are breaking the law, but if you are selling them outside of Florida, it's not illegal.
But, whatever you think if you sell or buy them, they do say on them that they are non-transferable and that Disneey has the right to revoke them. So, if you show up with partially used tickets and Disney finds out, they are within their rights to take the tickets and you are out the money you paid.

I was there this past weekend, and when you enter Magic Kingdom area where the Monorails and ferry boats are they were CM's telling you to hold out your ticket and make sure you sign them. I was like wow. I kept walking because I had old 3 day Hoppers that I got off of EBAY for 181. The lady who sold them had legit tickets. Worked for my frined and I.
Here are her listings and she had tons of positive feeback for her ticket sales. She now has 4 day Hoppers as well.

I'm talking about the actual FL law..not what Disney puts on the tickets (non transferable). If you sell tix on eBay, there is a whole list, by state of actual law. It is not illegal in most states to resell tickets..however, some states have laws about how much you can sell them for over the actual price, some have laws about used tickets, etc. I wasn't referring to the "rules" of contract Disney put on the tix, which you haven't gotten to read before you buy.
The tix are suppose to be signed now, but we noticed that even though there were places for people to take the time to sign them, and a cm was telling them too, it wasn't being enforced for those who didn't. Sort of like when they asked for tix to be shown for early morn hours where you catch the monorail and boat (not room keys, which I thought was odd), and I held out my AP folder, without realizing, it was empty, and I had put the actual AP elsewhere.
I use an AP, so it doesn't affect me..but there are some legitimate, allowed sellers on eBay right along with the bad sellers, so as with anything on eBay, it's buyer beware and be careful.

i was there in sept 2004
we had 5 day tickets
we used 3 days i gave them to my neighbor she used them fine i didnt ask for for any money
so this finger thing is that only with ap's ?
i saw people scanning there but is this with all tickets now

The new tickets started this year, so last year was still the old way I believe.
