Hello everyone

My wife and I are heading to Disney world on Jan 15 and we have found that we can use our air miles here in Canada to buy our passes!

Has anyone Used this before and if so any tips or helpful information or any problems?

I have read on the forums a few times that when I get to MK I should enter the park before I upgrade my tickets! I will be upgrading to a PH and Water park option!

Thanks for any help any of you vets can give me!

You need to make SURE that the tickets you buy are regular "Magic Your Way" tickets.
If they are MYW, you will want to use them to enter a theme park before doing any upgrades.
If they are not MYW, they won't be upgradable at all.

The air miles site calls it a base ticket but this was taken from the site once you chose your ticket choice!

"The 7-Day Magic Your Way Base Ticket provides admission to any one of the four Walt Disney World Theme Parks for each day of your ticket. Theme Park admission must be used within 14 days of first use.

Once at Walt Disney World, collectors can add on the Park Hopper Option which allows you to go from one Theme Park to another on the same day, or the Water Park Fun & More Option which allows you admission to other attractions like Water Parks, Downtown Disney , Pleasure Island and more. You can also add on the No Expiration option so that your ticket never expires. If you would like a Magic Your Way Ticket that has all of these options, check out the Magic Your Way Ticket with Park Hopper and Water Park Fun & More and "No Expiration Options".

That's the ticket that you want.

Have fun!

And, :welcome: to the DISboards, Adanac00!

We too used AirMiles for our upcoming trip but we went about it a different way.
First, we went onto the AirMiles website and bought the maximum of 4 vouchers of $100 per person which came to $1600 for our family of four.
Second, we took the vouchers to our nearest Marlin Travel agency where we cashed these certificates in to Air Transat Holidays.
We did not buy into a vacation package! We bought a 10 day ticket with park hopper and the water park fun and more option.
Next, the agency emailed me a link for our tickets. I then linked our tickets to our room only confirmation number on My Disney Experience. I then was able to select all of our allowable FP+ for our stay January 1-10, 2014.
Check out the websites for more information.
It may be a time constraint for your upcoming trip. But it helped us with our budgeting and allowed us to upgrade our tickets to just the taxes and fees only.

Chiming in !

I just bought a 5 day MYW ticket from Airmiles. It is not the hopper, but we will add that once we get there. It took about 2 weeks between the time I ordered it and the time it showed up in the mail so you'll want to factor that in. The card I received was the hard plastic, with a magnetic strip - exactly like a credit card. I assume that is an RFID card. It looks exactly like the ones I got from UCT. Incidentally, I had no trouble linking any of these (Airmiles or UCT) to MDE.

I will also get 3 Universal tickets (just saving up the last few miles on those) though I'm not sure they are upgradable (able to add a day) which we might want to do...

Hey everyone.... We're travelling to Orlando in June/July and planning to do Disney and Universal. Given the exchange rate is so horrible right now, we're thinking of cashing in our Airmiles to purchase our Universal tickets. Airmiles.ca refers to these tickets as 2 day / Park to Park tickets, but we are curious if we can upgrade to the 3rd day once we get there? And how much?

Thanks. :) :) :)

I bought a 5-day pass through Airmiles for my most recent trip. No problem at all. Came in the mail a short while later and easily linked. I didn't upgrade though. Visit the Canadians forum here on this board for tips on collecting Airmiles and current offers, etc.

n/m Just noticed you are talking about Universal tickets.

I am just back from Universal and had no issues upgrading out 2day PTP tickets bought through Airmiles. We went to the guest services over between Diagon Alley and MIB. The guy there says "well, you can pay and upgrade it to a 4 day pass or I can just change them to a Annual Power Pass for free !" Seems right now, there is a 'sale' on the Power pass and it costs the same as the 2 day PTP - so for no extra money, we have APs.

Just a side note, these APs are the ones with blackout dates which was fine for us. If your trip falls within the blackout dates, then you'll have to get something different.

I was a little worried about being able to do it, so I emailed Guest Relations (from the 'contact us' on the website) and they replied saying I would be able to upgrade. I did bring the printed email with me in case I had to argue the point but I didnt. There was no problem at all.

If you *do* have any problems, I would say 'never mind' then walk to the next guest service and try again there. You are bound to find someone who knows how to do it. If you want a copy of my email, let me know - I'll happily forward it to you so you have something in writing to insist with :)

Well THAT'S a pretty good deal. :) :) What did you have to bring with you to Guest Services? Just the printed tickets?

Yes the ticket plus photo ID since we upgraded to an AP. He was pretty cool about it thought since we had 4 tickets to upgrade and only 2 of us had ID, he did them all anyways.
