Buying stuff offsite: rent a car or take a cab?

Not sure if there is a post about this but I am trying to convince DH that we should rent a car atleast for a few days, so we can pick up groceries (and diapers, wipes, other essentials) instead of packing it and bringing it with us but he thinks we should just take a cab to the closest grocery store instead. Anyone have a recommendation? We have the meal plan so we don't really need to go offsite other than for groceries (was thinking of driving to the beach one day but seems like and we don't need to go shopping or to any other parks) but we can't go to the store as a family because there is no car seat in the cab.

Any suggestions? How much would a cab cost and how far away is the closest grocery store? I have points I can use to rent the car so the cost isn't that big of a deal and we have rented a car from the rental place at one of the DTD hotels so I guess DH would just take a bus/cab there to rent it. What have you guys done in the past?

Personally, I would just pay for a cab but that's because I hate the hassle of rental cars. However, cabs are pricey. To drive to POP to MK is about $20 with tip (if that gives you any indication...and that's just one way). So I'm sure a rental would be cheaper. Personally, I would just try to bring stuff from home...Florida grocery store prices are outrageous. Another option is to use a site like www.gardengrocer.com to get things delivered to your resort.

We have used garden grocer for the last 2 trips and it worked out great! It is really nice not having to waste my time shopping in an unfamiliar grocery store. They will deliver to bell services if you are at the park and keep any cold foods refrigerated for you. Also if you want a certain brand or something and you don't see it listed on their website you can request items in the note section and they will try to get it for you.
