Buying small contract direct with current years points

I am trying to decide on buying around 30 points direct from Disney. I have a December UY so I know I would get 2011 points. Do they extend the banking deadline with these points? I am trying to decide if I should just buy through Disney or try to wait longer to find a 50 point contract or so through resale. The next trip I want to book would be for next summer at the 7 month mark so I have some time.

historically yes. although i think you'd need to bank them pretty much immediately after buying if you are past the deadline...

I am buying a 35 point add-on via DVC direct with Oct UY. I have not even closed yet and I just banked my 2011 points a few days ago in a 3 minute phone call with MS. Also, DVC still picks up almost all of the closing costs (I paid $28). Elaine

I bought a 50-pt add-on direct from Disney in the last week of January. I have a Feb UY so I called as soon as the points showed up (the day after I paid my deposit) and banked them.
