Buying shares from Rep of Ireland-

Quite a few people have asked how to purchase shares from Ireland - this is how I did it and I am now a shareholder!


I used FXCM securities - www.fxcmstocktrading.com
I filled in an online form and faxed over a copy of my passport & a utility bill to prove address.
They then sent me a password & username, I logged onto their website and put €200 into my account from my credit card then I went to the tab -Trade Now
Then to trade - I went into stocks &EFTs, entered the symbol EDL-F this is eurodisney , order action is buy amount 20 the order type I did a limit - so I put in €4 and then when the markets open the shares will only be bought at below €4 or at €4 - it also has for a limit purchase how long u want to do so I did GTC which is good for 30 days. - this was my first ever trade and it is very simple to do , because I traded after 6pm I was in
work the shares were then bought at market opening the next day, I then looked in my account and the
contract note was there I went to Disneyland Paris
shareholders site , filled in their application form, printed it out and faxed my application form & contract note
over to them, I got a email almost instantly saying it
would take 6 weeks to gt the card- very easy. If I was at
home I could have done it start to finish in 3 days
Total cost shares 21 @ €4 & €14.95 commission , €
98.95 there is not annual fee with this company so u
only pay when u trade- do the limit buy because some
days shares range from €4 up till € 5 or 6 Within minutes

Thank you! I just signed up with fxcmsharetrading last night. Emailed passport pic & utility bill, so awaiting approval.
Good to know you can use credit card to deposit money. Was 200 the min lodgement? Is it easy to bring back leftover amount?

I have a feeling I will be back with more questions if you don't mind! Worried about actual purchasing but, never did it before either.

Don't worry it was my first time buying shares, the way the euro is now I'd say shares are €3.50 ish so just put in the amount needed for shares &. 14.99 trade fee, it took me 2 days from faxing over the bill & passport till I got the password then I just put the money in almost instantly and bough the shares, the y showed up automatically on the statement that I faxed to eurodisney shareholder club, it's pretty easy to be honest, any questions just ask

Good to know about the limit buy. Thanks for that Gwendolen. I didn't know about that when I bought my own shares last year so I was just lucky the price didn't jump when I tried to buy but will def use it when my Mum buys her share in the next few days

Ok, got a/c set up & approved, transferred money ok & placed order. Where do I find contract note? Do I need to print this then once I find it?

You will find contract note in account details then statement I printed mine & faxed it over with the application form.

Sorry for all the questions, still can't find it.
There is a few options on left hand side. First one is Account date. Second one is statements. I don't see anything re: contract note in either?

It's just the statement I sent over, contract notes are not issued unless requested anymore even from stockbrokers here, just print off the statement and fax it over, it's what I did and I have my shareholders number now!

Hi All
I am about to set up an account but when I do it says that you need to have a minimum investment of €2000 (this is on the Funding page when your setting up an account). Is this true? Or can you byepass this?
Would really love to hear about this as time is running out for organising this.

No, I only transferred 100euro. I think I had to ring them to do this. I also managed to set up the wrong a-c & had to redial them but they were so helpful. Waiting on card to arrive now, but got approval email.

the cards are printed and sent out in batches, it can take up to 12 weeks to get the permanent card. Don't let that stop you buying shares and joining the shareholders club though, as once you've sent in your shareholders club application form with proof of shares you can ask the shareholders club to send you out a temporary letter, which gives you the same discounts etc as the card does, and which you can use at DLP (and in Disney stores at home) until your permanent shareholders card arrives.
