Buying resale without visiting?

Just wondering everyones thoughts...My DH and I are seriously considering buying an SSR resale but have never visited the villas. We have a trip planned for December 6th and planned to visit then and make our final decision. Now with the treehouse villas being announced I am worried the resale price will go up? Do you think they will go up and if so how soon. Also has anyone bought without actually touring your home resort? Thanks for any advice.

Not only did I not visit the villas before I bought SSR direct from Disney, I've never been to WDW (unless you count the trip in the 70's when there was just a Magic Kingdom--or at least part of one). I am, however, an annual passholder and frequent visitor to Disneyland. I love Disney and knew this would be a good fit--plus it would force me to actually GO on vacation.:flower3:

We, too, bought resale before seeing BWV. We tried to schedule a quick trip but there were no rooms available and our dog ended up being very sick. So we bought sight unseen. We had been to the Boardwalk and eaten at Big River Grille one night. We knew we loved Disney and felt the BW was the best location for us. Since then we've added on at BWV and SSR. Good luck!

I bought OKW resale and I have never been there. I've only stayed at values and SOG. Now that kids are getting a little bigger this just seemed like the right move for us. I am actually going to visit OKW when we are at WDW in Dec, not staying there unfortunately, we are staying at SSR and will walk over to check it out. Hoping to stay there next year!

With all the SSR resales available, I doubt the price will change much due to the treehouse announcement.

On buying without visiting...if you can visit, I really recommend it to you. Each resort is different and appeals to different folks. I recommend having a car (bus transportation between resorts is a pain) and spending a few hours wandering around each of the resorts.

We bought our first DVC contract sight unseen. We had never even stayed in a DVC resort. But we had such a great guide, Gib, he always answered every email and question we had.

I would think the cost of resale will go up, because the cost per point new has now gone up. Has nothing to do with the fact that the Treehouses are at SSR, it's all about the price of the points new.

That being said, I think sight unseen is pretty safe.

I bought my 460 points of resale last year from OKW, VWL and SSR without seeing them. So far I've only been to VWL this year when I blew away my points for this year, hahaha...

We bought @ SSR before I had seen it. My wife had seen it, but I hadn't. My in-laws have been OKW members since the mid 90s however, and my wife and I have stayed at OKW and BCV. I was confident buying SSR sight unseen, because all of our DVC experiences have been positive.

We bought at AKV without ever having been there. We toured the models at SSR and knew it was for us. Seems like it's not that uncommon to buy DVC blind. Glad to hear we're not the only ones. :)

After doing a lot of research on-line :surfweb: and after many years of visiting WDW, I purchased my 175 pts @ SSR site unseen this past spring.

Will being going to BCV in October and finally to my "home" in December.

Good luck with your purchase :wizard:

We purchased SSR without visiting the resort as well. No complaints here. The resale market for SSR is pretty large due to several theories discussed in other forums. I doubt the THV announcement will have a major impact on demand for SSR. I would think any new demand would be offset by the BLT announcement; that is more resales coming to market in order to buy BLT. I'm sure someone has already theorized that's why Disney announced both simultaneously. Good luck with your decision.
