I am buying DVC points via resale. The offer has passed ROFR and I received the closing documents. I Fed Ex'd the payment and the signed closing documents yesterday to the title company. How long does it typically take from this point until I have access to the points for booking a reservation?

I won't say that my resale experience is typical, but here was my timeline once we passed ROFR:

10/02/09 - Passed ROFR
10/06/09 - Mailed closing docs and Final Payment to Title Company
10/20/09 - Closed on Resale Contract
10/25/09 - Points in Disney System and available for booking

Hope your experience is even faster!! Good luck!!

Resale purchases will usually be in the DVC system within a week of closing. You can call MS and they can look you up after you have been notified that your deed has closed. Sometimes there could be a delay depending on how prompt the seller is about returning their documents.

At any rate, it sounds as though you are through with most of the wait and will be able to make a reservation soon.

Welcome Home! :)

I would check with the company that you purchased from to make sure they have received the necessary documents from the seller. If they do have the documents from your seller the file should close within about 24 to 48 hours of receiving your documents. Once it closes typically you are in the Disney system able to make a reservation 5 to 7 days later.

It was much longer for me. I transferred funds electronically and faxed the documents to expedite the process. From that time it was 29 days before the seller returned his documents and then 48 hours before it closed. It was then 5 days after that before my points were available. So 36 days.... Once your funds are received the seller has 30 days to send in his paperwork or you may back out and get back your down payment. So my timeline is just about as long as it can take. I was not thrilled needless to say...

I received an email from TSS that closing had taken place on Friday 11/13/2009 we were in the system when I called MS on Tuesday 11/17/2009.

That was almost our exact timeline. We got the email last Thursday. We called Monday - not in yet. We didn't call yesterday but called today and we were in. Not only that, we were able to reserve 4 nights at AKV for this coming Christmas! Only standard view - but we were thrilled. We had a backup AP reservation at CBR but are so happy. We had our choice of SSR or AKV Kidani standard (studio).

The funny thing is that we've stayed at AKL for probably three of the last five (cash) trips. We walked over to Kidani last time and liked it so it'll be neat to stay as members.

I am in the same boat. I received notice yesterday (Tues-11/17) that the contract was completed and a copy of the deed had been forwarded to DVC to make the transfer. Both the Title Company and the Realtor said to wait 7-10 business days to call and get my membership number. Some have said they called and got their number sooner. I'll probably start calling Friday (11/20)! ;)

Yes it's a 5 year old thread, but what is the current amount of time to have points available after closing?

I would like to know as well. Fidelity informed me that we passed ROFR sent some documentation by email and I was told my closing documents would be received within 10 to 14 days for me to sign and send the funds. That was March 11, 2014. Does it usually take that long to receive docs?

We bought on 1/27/14 passed ROFR on 2/27/14, sent a check to title agency that was received last Friday 3/14/14. Just wondering When we would see points in our account?

It was about 2 weeks after the deed was filed before I got my member number in the mail. We then called and got a reservation. Later we got a packet with our cards etc, but no online info. I called and they gave me the info I needed to register on the member website.

Can all those requests be made by email instead or calling every time? I live in Chile and would hate to call every time and get on hold for long.

Thanks!
