Buying Prescription Glasses Online

Does anyone have any experience with it?
My DH and I wear glasses, and had our eyes checked today for the first time in about 2 1/2 years and are anxious to get new glasses.

We have a vision plan (VSP) but didn't really appreciate the selection at the Optometrist's, or the prices at Lenscrafters.

I've been shopping online at FramesDirect.com and they seem pretty formidable. Read a few reviews on other websites and they are mostly positive.

Guess I'm just worried that something will go horribly wrong - looking for anyone's experiences or recommendations.

We've used Zenni Optical several times. They are pretty basic, but my DS(6yo) gets to choose 2-3 pair and sunglasses. He's happy and we're done for less than $50.00.

My husband has ordered prescription frames on-line from other places, including Oakley sunglasses and some other name brand. He's always happy. (Not sure we saved anything on them though. He was just able to get what he liked.)

I've recently used http://glassesunlimited.com and couldn't be happier...$9.99/pair and $4.99 shipping for as many pair ordered. No more $200 glasses for me.

Using information and advice from right here on the DIS I purchased glasses from zennioptical.com. The bifocal glasses were very inexpensive and yet better quality than what I paid over $150 for at a local optician! My DD has very strong lenses and she was hesitant to try them....but she did and has been very happy.
