So since the Disney company removed my local pin purchasing opportunity by closing the World of Disney store in Manhattan I am now relegated to purchasing pins from DisneyStore.com, eBAY and calling in favors from folks that are going to WDW/DLR/DLRP.

I have read more than a few posts on this site where people claim to buy pins at Garage sales, estate sales and antique shops - trying to understand how common this is and how the good folks on this board get pins.

I am always looking for traders and any opportunity I have to pick up pins is a good thing as there usually is SOMEONE that wants the pin and is willing to trade with me.

One of my personal challenges is that while I have nearly a thousand pins many of them are 'newer' in the sense that they are recently released and not super desireable (YET!) since folks could have bought them like me.

Looking for older pins and of course not looking to spend a ton of $ on them ;-)

Curious as to where you folks get your pins, success @ 'alternative' sourcing (eBAY, online, etc.), and suggestions on maximizing my time - I have been to many garage sales claiming Disney pins (from Craigslist) and they are usually the buttons.......

Hi, I most of my pins directly from the park, or buying from eBay. You can often find new releases from real pin sellers (not scrappers) for less than sticker, because of Disney/Visa or AP discounts.

I would imagine those who truly find them at Garage Sales would be those who live near Disney World or Disneyland, like they were cleaning out the attic and found someone's who lived there, etc. I could not imagine people living in my area (MD) having large amounts in a garage sale.

Knew I recognized the name. How are you? are you going to CJPT meet in the fall? If you need something from the world, I am going down in August. Penny:hippie:

Hi Penny - hope all is well!

I try not to limit myself to our usual haunts  SO many amazing people that share a Disney collection passion!

Probably will go to the fall event in NJ - trying to get soome quality traders to continue my Figment quest......

I have a friend going to Trade City - fingers crossed that I get ANY of what I put in for from that event. Since Figment (a non spotlight character of course) is on nearly 60% of the pin paraphernalia for the Trade City event - I hope to get SOMETHING!!! :cheer2:

Thanks for thinking of me but i think I am good....

Best regards and don't be a stranger!
