Greetings all:

I am wondering if any of you have experience buying unused portions of multi day park hoppers from online sellers who offer to meet you at your hotel.

Generally, I am sceptical about this sort of thing, but many have postive feedback on auction sites.

Can Disney find out that you are using someone else's park hopper?

I would think the risk is that you have absolutly no way of knowing how many days are left on the pass...if any at all.

That's way too much trust to give a stranger IMO.

I wouldn't do it. Just my honest opinion.
But I do not have any experience, just a gut feeling.

I know that a lot of people do it and with success, but it is a risk you would have to take, that's all.

There really is no way to know how many days are left on it (If any) until you are right in front of a Disney employee who scans it. And you really can't take the seller to the gate with you and hand him your money right in front of a Disney employee or else they'll know someone is attempting to transfer their non-transferable ticket. I doubt he's going to give you the tickets unless you give him the money first.

Let the buyer beware.

I have an employee who did that about a month ago. The tickets were overnited after the auction. She was suppose to have 3 days left on a 5 day coming up to the actually expiration date. She got 1 day. They say non-transferable.
If you are going to do auctions, I would stick with those tickets that have not been used coming from a seller that will back the ticket if you have problems. "Let the buyer beware".

there is always a bit of a risk there, I know many people have done it successfully. Not sure I would trust doing that. They do say non-transferable but usually you can get around that. If you cant afford to loose the money i would recommend not doing it

The other thing to be aware of, is DLR tickets generally expire 14 days after first use .. so even if there were days on it at the time of the auction, they could be expired by the time the ticket gets to you. Just buy new tickets, it will be worth the peace of mind

I sold a used pk hopper ticket in feb.. had one day left and the ee hadnt been used...I specifically noted that fact...had no problems...got it in the mail overnight and that was that... If they have a good rating I would think there should be no problem...alot of cms sell them on ebay cause they get them free..

We have friends who only buy tickets on the largest online auction site. They get great deals on DL tickets all the time. Last trip she got the last 3 days on a 5 day hopper for $77.00/each. That's less than a 1 day admission. They plan their family DL trips around auction wins. They have never had any problems with tickets they've received. They love the challenge of getting a good DL deal.

Thank you all........obviously, the vast majority of you are not comfortable with the whole concept of third party / used park hoppers.

I agree with everything that has been said.....although, I think if a seller has a good rating (and accepts paypal) there is some protection. I have used the dispute console in the recent past over something I believe I was shortchanged on, and I won my money back.

Be very careful of thinking that you will win a dispute against an ebay/paypal vendor. If they send you the tickets, it will be your word against his that you used them in a timely manner and he will have a tracking number showing timely shipment to prove his side of the story. All you will have is a worthless ticket.

Good point. It would be potentially sticky that way.....but once again, it comes back to feedback when you are dealing with a seller who has had over 100 auctions with a favorable rating.

I know there are know guarantees though.

Sounds like you made your mind up to take the risk...good luck. I hope it works out.

Just make sure that you have a backup plan on the off chance it doesn't. It would REALLY suck to find out at the gate that you cant get in because there is a problem and you do not have the room on your credit card to replace them with full price tickets.
