I just bought 2 10-day park hoppers from Undercover Tourist (thanks to a link from Mousesavers). All in all, the basic price was almost identical to Disney, but when I attempted to buy the same tickets from Disney, they added nearly $55 in taxes!! FIFTY FIVE DOLLARS!! :earseek:

So, here's my question: how is it that Disney charges you tax while the ticket brokers do not?

Because the tickets are to be used in Florida, Florida receives sales tax for every WDW ticket sold regardless of where the buyer is. I believe that sales tax is initially collected by Disney when tickets are sold to wholesalers and travel agencies.

The broker sets the price to the guest taking into account the total price paid to Disney including tax.

Because the broker may change the actual price to the guest, possibly on a daily basis, while the sales tax has already been paid, the percentage of a given ticket's price that went to the state of Florida can vary unlike a traditional sale where the sales tax percentage is fixed.

Thing is with ticket brokers are you sure that the tickets are good. I have heard horror stories about people buying tickets from resellers( ie. Ebay and even some discount ticket places) and they dont have full days on them or Disney didnt accept them for one reason or another. Not saying your company isnt legit but. I would have paid a little extra and bought from Disney just for my piece of mind.

That's why you buy from reputable brokers that are associated with sites like mousesavers. Undercover tourist and ticketmania are both reputable companies. I had a great experience with ticketmania.

There are definitely the scammers out there so it's good to check things out carefully. Someone asked about a site the other day that people knew was a scam so they were able to warn the poster off. I would never ever buy a ticket from Ebay.

If you look at the checkout screen on Undercovertourist, they say that tax is included.

Ticket brokers, to get the price lower than Disney's, are in effect, not taking as much commission on each ticket.

Disney sells large numbers of tickets at a discount price to the brokers. I'm really not sure why, it seems they would make more money if they sold the tickets at that price themselves. I bought 5 tickets thru Ticketmania and the service was great. Plus, I saved $100.
