Buying Park Hoppers for future trips

Help ticket experts! We are going to WDW in May and we will be using our left over days from our Park hoppers from last year so I do not need to buy hoppers this year - however I have been looking at the 10 day tickets and would like to start buying them for a future trip - I would buy 10 days with the hopper option also I would want to use them for 2 trips - would it be best to go ahead and buy the non expiring ones to begin with or should I add that option once we figure when we are going to use them. I guess my main concern is it a smart buy to buy the tickets now for either a 2006 or 2007 trip. Do the ticket prices raise every year or a couple times a year?

Ticket prices usually go up at least once per year. The increase in price can vary.

For some, investing the money in tickets has a psychological meaning. Money spent on a pass cannot be used to pay a bill or wasted on an impulse purchase. It also is a tacit promise that you will be returning to WDW at some time in the future.

The downside is that you would probably make more in interest if you just put the money in a savings account, money market or CD as opposed to offsetting the price increase(s) by purchasing now. And there's always the possibility of misplacing those passes during the next couple of years. And if Disney offers any great package deals during your trip, you will not be able to take advantage of them because you've already invested your money in tickets.

I would wait until at least 2006 to buy the passes. The money that I would have spent on tickets would get squirreled away in some kind of savings earmarked specifically for WDW. As you get closer to your trip dates, you'll have a clearer picture of what you'll want to do for your passes.

I do intend on saving the money and I just wasn't sure if it was better to buy the tickets as I save or wait until we are closer to a next trip - I will go ahead and wait and put the money in an interest bearing acct - also it did cross my mind the "What if" there is a special promo -
