Buying OKW Resale

We just made an offer on a 100 point contract at OKW for $69 a point. The asking price was $72. The offer was accepted. Now my husband is having second thoughts since the contract expires in 2042. He's wondering if we should pay more per point for something expiring in 2057. In 2042 well be in our mid 80's & our children will be in their 60's. I doubt we'll be traveling much then. My husband is thinking that if we ever needed to sell, a contract with more years left on it would sell easier. I'm thinking, why spend more money now for something that wouldn't affect us for 30 yrs. We have another 100 point contract at SSR that we could sell if it ever came to that. Anyone have any advice? We haven't signed anything or paid a deposit yet. Is $69 a good price for OKW? We appreciate any advice any of you experts can give us.

I am not an expert, but $69 is on the high side for OKW not extended. I have seen high 50's to 69/70 recently. Do not buy if any doubts exist. You can get a better deal if you wait.

We bought with the understanding that the contracts would be worth zero when we sold or they hit their termination date. That includes selling in ten years because no one knows for sure what will happen with prices. Our last contracts that we sold had a loss of $10,000, now of course the prices have come up but they will go back down.

Buy where you love to stay and expect to keep the contract until you get tired of Disney vacations.

Personally I like that some of our contacts will expire before we do (hopefully!). And it's so hard to predict what if any value any of the DVC products will have in 30 years.

And that's a smaller OKW contract and wouldn't count on finding anything cheaper for awhile so if your comfortable with the price that's really what matters.
