Buying new toys

Both DS (12 and 6) have been pestering me for a PSP. I know electricals like these are cheaper in the US but what do you do about the different voltage when you get home? Can you buy a transformer, or is it just not worth buying them because they won't work? And what about laptops etc?

I'm sure someone here will know all the answers.....

I can't answer the technical aspects to this question, but I believe if you buy from WalMart and something goes wrong you can return it to Asda - might give you a little peace of mind

A lot of the time things like PSP, Gameboys etc are not actually cheaper in the US. they can be found cheaper on line in the UK. Also you need to take into consideration the fact that your warrenty will porbably be invalid in the UK and you need a voltage converter for lost things not just a plug adapter. The other thing is that the games/dvds etc that you can buy in the UK do not always work on your US gadets and vice versa. On the whole IMHO, I would say it's better to buy here on line.

I do B&B and a lot of the yanks take there laptops with them
work fine here just plug them in to the wall and they use my wireless internet no problems

the boys won a light up clock last year in the US and when they came home pluged it in to see if it worked and the thing blow
never to work again
got walkie talkie one year as well same thing happened
but it was my fault that time
