Buying Magic Bands

How would you connect it to your tickets? Do they have a kiosk to do this, or do you use your phone app?

I went to my Disney store (Braintree, MA) last week and they didn't sell them. However, they ordered them for me and the shipped them to my house with no shipping charges.

How would you connect it to your tickets? Do they have a kiosk to do this, or do you use your phone app?
You enter the code on the magic band into your MDE account. The band is linked to your account and nothing else.

Yes.

Just to keep things as clear as possible-

There is no reservation info, or ticket info, or credit card info,
or FP+ info "put onto" a MagicBand.

A MagicBand just contains (and weakly "transmits") a unique serial number that is used to access the information that is stored in your MyDisneyExperience computer file.

So, even if you were to lose a MagicBand, the info stays locked in your file.
Disney can just set up a new band (different serial number)
to access the info in your MDE file.

Disney can also issue ADDITIONAL MB's to a guest and each
additional band can be used for the same purposes as the first band.
So, yes, there can be multiple MB's per person, and each of them can be used by that person.

The MagicBand works like the combination to a locked safe, or a key to a locked door.
The MB, itself, is not the file of info or the container of the info.

The MB just unlocks the file of info, allowing it to be accessed from your MDE account when needed.

Can we purchase a magic band at our local Disney store?
The local Disney Store in Nashville, TN does not sell magic bands. Outside of the parks, we only found them at Pin Traders in Downtown Disney. We checked the big Disney Store there and they do not sell them. Also could not find any being sold at the gift shops in the Grand Floridian.

Our local store did not carry them when I checked in May before our trip (maybe best to call your local store before going). The store at the Contemporary had a huge selection. There is also a limited selection online at the DisneyStore.com

If you are adventurous you could try the newly released Shop Disney Parks app

I looked at the app yesterday. They show a lot of the character magic bands but all of them are marked in-store purchase only. I don't understand why items are listed in the app but you can't buy from the app. I don't get it.

I didn't realize that they were in-store purchases only, thanks for pointing that out. I took a closer look, apparently a lot of items are in-store only. Kind of lessens the usefulness of the app (by a lot).
