Buying liquor on the ship

Hi

I remember when we cruised on the Wonder 3 years ago my husband bought 4 bottles of Vodka on "special" on the ship. He was allowed to bring it back to our stateroom. I vaguely remember him having to get up extra early on the last day to go and declare it. When he came back, he said they seemed surprised that he was there and just kind of waved him off.

So, my questions are.... is it normal policy to be able to buy liquor and bring it back to your room? If that's the case, I won't bring it on. What is the deal with the customs declaration? Is it strict for a couple of bottles, or is it only if you've bought a ton of stuff?

Any info would be great.

Thanks
Jenn

Hiya -

My Hubby bought 4 bottles when we were on our last cruise - we didnt receive our bottles until Friday Night (of a 7 day cruise) - they were delivered to our stateroom. We could not bring them back to the room.
He also was waved off at customs - and they told him you would need to purchase items with approx. $10.00 worth of Duty (10% of the purchase prices - ie: allowed 1 each per adult in the stateroom - so had 2 extra bottles with duty of 10% of $9.00ea. would only be $1.80 - if anything - I would still trek down in the morning, just to be the "good guy" - cause I know our luck, if we didnt claim them, we would get caught...hehehehehe
Have a wonderful Cruise!!! :sunny:
