Buying In Sight Unseen

We haven't stayed at BWV yet, but we did walk around it quite a bit two trips ago. It's a beautiful resort!

I purchased BWV in 2000 while at WDW staying at CBR. In the 5 years I owned it, I never stayed there!!

When I bought SSR last year it was sight unseen. Our first trip to SSR is this July. I just called my guide and left a message to add on at AKV - again, sight unseen.

It really doesn't matter to me where I own, cause I like all the DVC resorts. So if I own somewhere I don't like, I know I can find another DVC resort I can stay at. Just call me the rebel - cause I don't buy where I want to stay!!

Our first purchase was HH resale sight unseen. We love it. Then we added on at BWV without staying there. Love that also. We have no regrets - accept maybe needing more points!!!! AKL is calling - but I think we will wait and see about Hawaii.

Count us in! Bought AKV sight unseen as founding members. Then this last week we added on more points at AKV! Still sight unseen as we still have not been there!!! But we are going this year for sure (already booked).

We haven't been to WDW since 1999! So I'd say we were pretty blind. But we've already gotten great use out of our DVC points and can't wait to get "home" this December.

I just bought into Boardwalk Villas sight unseen and am awaiting ROFR.:cool1:

We visited the Saratoga Springs and Animal Kingdom villas on our last vacation but didn't really want to purchase 160 points.

After we got back home I spent a lot of time on these boards researching and educating myself about the various DVC's. :surfweb: After putting a lot of thought into it I decided I liked the Boardwalk because of its location and availability of rooms with fewer points. I really liked the idea of being so close to both Epcot and DHS and it looks like there are lots of things to do both at the resort and at nearby resorts.

The only downsides I really saw were the long hallways and no food court.

Has anybody else purchased a DVC unit sight unseen? I've never even been to the Boardwalk before. The closest I've ever come was eating at the Dolphin once. I sure hope I like it there!

I bought OKW sight unseen. Have only been to WDW once and stayed at the Beach Club and really liked it. Walked by where they were going to build the Boardwalk so you can tell it was a long time ago.
I picked OKW because of it's low points, bigger rooms and being off the beaten path. I researched alot and can't wait to be able to visit. This will be in 10, as this year we are doing a big family trip to DLR and then in Jan 09 we have laready booked the Hollywood/Disney Resort Adventures by Disney. I want to fit in a cruise sometime also....we need more vacation time and/or cash :)

Congrats, hope you make ROFR. We bought a resale at BWV this Fall. Never stayed there, but took a few strolls over that direction and fell in love with the whole area!! Taking our first trip to our new home in June!

We bought VWL site unseen...twice:scared1:

Technically we did see it from the Monorail, but we didnt know we were gonna purchase at that time.

We bought initial pts then added on another 50. Since then, another 130.

I figured, hey its Disney so I know Im gonna like it. I was wrong.

I Love it!!(and you will too;) )

We did almost exactly what you did. We went down, had a lovely trip - didn't even stop by the DVC booth. Love WL (they had just stopped selling VWL and were selling BCV), did some internet research, and bought BWV resale - without ever having been to the Epcot resort area before. Closest we'd come is driving by on the highway and remaking how ugly the Swan and Dolphin were.

My themeatic heart is still over at WL, but for us BWV has been ideal in terms of location and the availability of standard view rooms.

On 01/22/08 One of the sales reps offered me to purchase VWL (more expensive) - I think they may have some open.

we had stayed at BWI, BC & YC (but not BWV). but my parents, DB & his family had stayed in a 2bdrm BWV a few times (yes, one of those that actually paid over $500 a night :scared1: lol).

the subject of DVC came up while chatting with a neighbor at the bus stop(she owns at OKW). the EPCOT are had already won us over  , so the next day i started looking into it, "crunched" numbers, & bought (all within about 1 week). over the years, we added BCV & SSR without anything except developer sketches :confused3 .

last october was the first time we actually saw a model villa, over 7 years after our original purchase :)

BWV is still our absolute favorite resort in all of WDW (SSR being our #2 fav DVC:thumbsup2 ). one of the things we appreciate is the lack of a full CS restaurant: while we occasionally enjoy using one in a different resort, i think the "cafeteria" atmosphere of CS would detract from the BW's elegance & charm. :cloud9:

When we bought SSR, my DW had not seen the resort but I had.

We added on at AKV during presale, before the models were open.

If they sell CRV, we will probably add-on a small contract during presale.

We bought into SSR sight unseen. We could not be happier. We love it!! :lovestruc

We had never seen any of the DVC resorts actually. We had considered taking a tour over the years but never did. I went online one day, called a Rep to ask some questions and we bought in that day.

We are one of those should have done it years ago family's!!:thumbsup2

We bought into SSR sight unseen. It was DH's 1st trip to WDW in July 2006. (We had heard about DVC when we were staying at the GC at DLR in July 2005.) We were staying at the BC before a cruise and DH overheard people talking about DVC. We talked about it and when we got home, a few weeks later, we owned a piece of SSR! We had not seen it while we were at WDW, but when we were at the DLR in Dec. 2006, we saw the models. We stayed at SSR last July and it was beautiful.

We did an add-on at AKV while viewing the model units at the Preview Center. We have never seen AKL but will next month on our first stay!! Yea!! :goodvibes
