I love reading your board. All of you are so informed on DVC. My first question is: Does Disney raise the amount of points needed year after year. What may be 200 points for a certain week in 2001, 5 years from now could be 250 points for same time and unit. The next question is: right of refusal. How to get around it. If possible. A friend needs to sell his 170 points. wants to sell to me for what he owes. $7500. I think this is a very good price but Disney will refuse to let him sell at this. Am I right. Thanks for any Help.

Welcome Kathy! The points for the DVC resorts will not continue to go up. Think of it as one pool of points. They can make something go up but something else would have to go down. They made an adjustment at the beginning of OKW and they added the standard view option to BWV but those are the only two times they've changed the points at any of the resorts.

Your yearly dues can go up. No more than 15% by FL law. However, the increases to date have been modest and sometimes even go down! Good luck with your decisions!

Not sure what you can do about your friend wanting to sell. No, I don't think Disney will let that low a sale go through.

Points per unit per year cannot be raised. They can be "shifted" somewhat. For example they could raise them a little during one season if they lowered them by an equal number during another season; but they have to keep the total count applicable to the unit for the year the same.

As the price is under $55 a point, the amount below which it appears Disney is exercising its right of first refusal, it appears you would face a real risk of Disney taking the points. Don't know a solution other than possibly the friend's giving you the points as a gift but the entire loan amount would become due immediately if that occurred

That's a good suggestion, Mooses!
