Hi everyone.
I am new to all this, just registered today.
I have passed ROFR, so am waiting for closing, and excited to start planning my first trip.
What tips, hints, advice do you have?
How hard is it to get a reservation at another DVC resort?
What would you recommend to make the most of your OOP expenses?
I had thought to definately get an AP, and use it for 2 years, timing trips so I can.
I wondered about DDE. $65/.15=$433.33 before I save a penny. I will be going alone, and am not a big eater. I also don't need a "nice, sit-down" meal, but am fine with counter service.
Where is the link to what restaurants accept DDE?
Can you use it at counter service. If so, I would have more use of it, than just Table-Service.
I sure would like to stay at AKV, savannah view.

Come on, someone. Please help me out. I don't have time to read all the boards. My husband and daughter take the computer all the time.
Please answer.

DDE is primarily for TS restaurants and even not all of them. There are a few counter service places included, but only where there is not a TS restaurant, like the value resorts and formerly AK (Tusker House is now TS and not CS).

Your points are good for making a reservation at any DVC resort 7 months out from your check out day. Some are harder than others to get.

Thanks so much for replying.
So, how hard is it to get reservations at 7 months out?

I am home today because of my pinched nerve in my back, radiating down my leg, and so numbing my leg, etc. I am not usually home during the day.

I don't even know how to use the sight yet!

Please tell me how to find and do stuff.

Thanks so much in advance.

It really depends on when you go. There are some times of year where it would be very difficult, i.e., the Christmas season at VWL, Food and Wine Festival time at BCV and BWV, school breaks, etc. If you're going at a busy time, book your home resort at 11 months out and then try to change when you hit the seven-month window.

These boards are a wealth of information, so keep reading!! Good luck!:goodvibes

I really would like to stay at AKL, SavannahV, studio or 1BR. What do you think chances are at 7 months out? I am buying SSR, Dec. UY.

I have read on this board about doing day-by-day.
Do you recommend this strategy?

Also, regarding the dining, being solo, it doesn't seem like DDE would be worth it. What are your thoughts?

Hello again,
I will be traveling solo most, if not all, of the time,
SO......what are your recommendations???

Give me your thoughts, please.

VAKL doesn't have enough of a track record to do more than guess (in fact, all we do here is guess, but with VAKL we don't even have enough data to do a good job with the guessing). If you want to stay there though, buy there and book early, its the only way to be relatively certain of not being disappointed. And even with that, people are disappointed - some rooms book up fast enough that they are completely full by mid day at the eleven month window (like BWV standard view between October and New Yearks or OKW Grand Villas over holidays).

DDE is probably not worthwhile if you travel solo, unless you buy very expensive bottles of wine or eat out a lot at WDW over the course of a year (like if you'd stay weeks). You'll need to do your own math since no one but you knows what your trips are like.

Thank you for your reply.
I probably will forego the DDE, but I think the AP will be worth the $$.

So how do I get the AP discount, once I have finished closing?
Do I call MS and buy it from them?

Also, how do I make sure I get the voucher, as I want don't want my annual pass to start until my first trip activation day (maybe September or October or so of 2008?).

If I decide I want to try the DDE, aren't there rules about getting it after your AP? etc. How long, etc?
