We are closing in our date to finalize on AKV and I'm just not sure this is where we want to be - since we are in Ab and Disney is not licensed here, once the date passes we are hooped for buying direct. I'm thinking a 100 points at both BC and WV - plus doing a resale will give us more time to decide and look around - (we are not in a hurry, our next vacation will probably be Christmas 2009) but I'm a little nervous doing it from here - can you please share your experiences?

I had a great experience with the Time Share Store. They made everythiing really easy in terms of signing docs etc. Most of it was done by email. The closing company was also great and provided wire transfer instructions that I took to my bank, which made that part easy. Unfortunately, you have to pay that way if you don't have an American bank you can write cheques on. Our cheques don't have the same number system so you can't use them.

If your not sure then don't do it. Back off while you still can and take some time to do the research.

I have checked out The Time Share Store and for me a resale is better. I can't afford the number of points that I want if I buy directly from DVC. Plus, I'd rather be at BCV or OKW.

We went through DVC By Resale, only because they had the amount of points that we wanted at the resort that we wanted. (100 points at the VWL).
I was not interested in Saratoga or AKL Villas, so buying direct was not an option. I have a friend who just purchased from atimeshare and it was no problem. I am sure that they are all good, just some have more units for sale than others.

I went through GMAC because they had the perfect contract for me. I wanted 150 Beach Club points, with lots of banked points available at a good price. There were some unhappy GMAC customers that I read about, but my experience was very good. SLOW, but the person I dealt with was great.

Most people give rave reviews to the Timeshare Store for service, but if I were willing to 'pay for service' I would have dealt with Disney directly. Certainly, I would have picked them over GMAC (based on feedback) if they had the same contract, but they didn't... asking price at TSS was a several dollars higher per point than the contracts on the GMAC site (at the time at least). DVC is a big-ticket purchase, but if you can find the perfect contract through resale you can save enough money to book your flights and then some!

We bought 210 points resale from the Timeshare Store and it was a very smooth transaction.

Everything was done via email. We had to fax a few signed docs and the deal was done. I overnighted a cashiers check and soon after we were in the DVC system and could make reservations.

If, (I mean when) we add points it will be via the Timeshare store again.
