Buying DVC points for December 2006

Hello everyone-

This is my first time to this site, so please forgive me if I don't know all the right abbreviated lingo yet. I've heard that the best way to save money on the 2 bedroom villas either at the boardwalk or beach club is to buy points from an existing DVC member. We are going December 15-22, 2006 and are wondering if anyone would like to sell us some of there points.

That being said can you also update me on how this would work...so sorry. Also, do people think Boardwalk or Beach club is better? Traveling with 5 adults and 2 4 yr. olds.

I'm thinking you mean that you want to rent points.

Buying points means you own them for the next 36-47 years. Renting is for a 1 time shot. Go to the DVC Rent/Trade Board section here and you should be able to find what you want.

Typically points go for about $10/per point on a rental.

Boardwalk Standard view is slightly cheaper point wise than Beach Club or Boardwalk Preferred view, but they go fast, so they might be hard to find. If you want Christmas time, you will definitely be better to rent from someone who owns at the place you want to rent from since you can book 11 months in advance.....and you would want to do that ASAP. (If you get points from 1 resort and want to book at another, you can only book 7 months in advance)

They are both very nice resorts, easy access to Epcot and MGM. The "beach" pool at Beach Club is really nice. We just stayed at Boardwalk in September (Standard View) and were really happy with it. Got a newly renovated room and had a view of the Epcot fireworks each night.
