I was looking at tickets for my trip this summer. I'm considering a second trip this winter. Given the number of days I'll be there I started looking in to getting an AP instead of MYW tickets. I then noticed that DVC members can get a discount on AP's, including for immediate family members living in the same household. My sister is a DVC member and we live in the same household. So I'm guessing she could buy an AP for me with her discount. However, it also states you have to show your DVC card when you turn in the voucher for the actual AP. My sister isn't going on my trip. So would she have to give me her DVC card for me to show when I turn in my voucher? Will that work since she has a different last name?

Sorry, it's not going to work. Find another discounted ticket instead of the AP.

I would have your sister contact member services to discuss if/how it could be done.

From Member Website:

Who is eligible to receive the Annual Pass discount?
Disney Vacation Club Members receive a discount on the Pass for themselves and their immediate family residing in the same household only. At the time of purchase or redemption, your Disney Vacation Club Member ID Card must be provided and ALL ADULTS must present a valid driver's license or state identification card showing they reside in the same household.

Who is defined as "immediate family"?
"Immediate family" is defined by Walt Disney World Resort for discount purposes as noted below: Spouse/Registered Domestic Partner, Parent/Step Parent, Mother-In-Law/Father-In-Law, Child/Step Child, Brother/Stepbrother, Sister/Stepsister, Brother-In-Law/Sister-In-Law, Grandparent, and Grandchild.

The only issue will be presenting the DVC member card that is your sister's. As DebbieB has stated, have your sister contact MS and let us know what happens.

My sister finally got around to calling DVC Member Services. She said it shouldn't be a problem. I don't even need to show my sister's DVC member card. I just need to show my license with the same address. :yay:

I would take her member # with you or better yet a copy of her card. They will have to lookup her information to make sure the address matches and the membership is still active. Even though I ordered my DVC AP in advance, they still wanted to see my card to lookup my information.

We also had to show our DVC member card to pick up our pre-ordered DVC discounted PAPs.

I would take a photo copy of her membership card. If the CMs needs to look anything up on her membership, that would probably make it faster.

They definitely have to key in the member # because the cm I had made a typo and had to enter it again. I don't think it's the physical card that is as important as the number itself. But having a copy of the card would verify the number in case there is a question.

My sister said there's a confirmation number I'll have to give them. Do you think I could just take a picture of her member card on my iPhone and show that or would a physical copy of it be better?

As long as you can give them her member #, I think you will be OK. They might be able to pull it off the confirmation # but I'd have it handy just in case.
