I've got to have a drink during the sail-away party... can we pay cash or do we use our room key? Is a tip already added to the bill since they brought it to me?

Thanks!

room key only...and the bill you sign will already have a 15% tip added, it's up to you to decide if you want to add more:D

What do most people do about tipping more?

I personally don't feel the need to tip more if there is already a 15% add in. That is, unless the server was consistently attentive or something like that.....did something special. Just to the bring the drink, with a gratuity added in, isn't that enough?????

I usually tip more if we're going to be in the same place for a little while and they'll probably be back to serve more drinks. If it's a one-shot deal, I usually let the 15% do the job.

My understanding of the "auto-gratuity" is that the auto 15% goes into a pool which is divided amongst all of the bar servers and bartenders. Anything you add goes directly to the person who served you.

Also, if the service was prompt and friendly, as it almost always is, I don't mind adding a bit extra.

On our next cruise we will add more of a gratuity. When we were on Castaway Cay my DH was speaking to a cast member and she was saying the gratuity that is automatically put in the bill is split between her, bartender and he isn't home now to ask him if anyone else gets a piece. Wish I found out earlier in the cruise as I felt the same way, its in there already I'm not adding anymore.

I don't mind adding more if someone is "especially attentive", however, like was said earlier, for a one time shot, I think the 15% is enough.

I don't mind adding in for any kind of tip for exceptional service but when there is an already 15% bump on an already premium price, it is hard to allow more.

I love these boards! I know the souvenier glass costs more and the drink of the day costs less... I am thinking Pina Coladas! Do any of you remember how much drinks tended to be?

the only time I added extra to a drink tip was when I was laying in a chair on the deck above the pool - deck 10?? and the server who had brought me a drink, kept an eye on how fast mine was going, and just at the right time came by and asked if I would like another and brought it right away. That plus the fact he had to bring it up the stairs to me got him a small amount extra:)
DH tipped extra to the bartender by the pool when he asked for an extra strong Konk kooler that he said he was getting for me "to relax" and the bartender winked and said " sure ting, mon...good luck!". He got a tip based on that line alone:)

*LOL*...........I would agree with those extra tips!!!

I tipped the server on our first cruise extrat to start with and he made sure we ALWAYS had cold water......*sigh*..........I never had to worry about it.

Diamond Girls: The drinks were usually around 4.50-4.95 and the souvenier glass was 2.00.
