Buying Disney Giftcards at grocery store

I have good news and bad news for you. The bad: the highest denomination any on these boards has seen at Target is $50. The good: I can confirm that by calling MS you can pay your DVC dues with multiple gift cards. I just used 21 GCs worth $900, for which I paid $765 during the December promotions. -- Suzanne

Thanks! I'll probably hit up Target for some $50 GC's and call MS this week.

I'm glad I found this information. I pay our MF's annually, but I have a set amount direct deposited every 2 weeks into an account set aside for them. I usually project about a 5% increase every year and for the last 2 years of ownership, I have not had a shortage. This year, our MF's went up almost 8%:scared1:, leaving me about $40 short. Now that I found out I can save 5% on GC's at Target, I no longer have a shortage:wizard:.

Bummer, it seems most of the good deals seem to be on the east coast. I live in oklahoma right now and I don't think I've ever seen a good sale or perk like that around here, even in the bigger cities.

Anyone else live in the middle of the country that may know of a place?

Oh how I wish I had known about that deal with target! I would have bought my sister a gift card there for her upcoming trip. She's taking my niece to Walt Disney World for the first time.

Although, I cannot complain as the $75 gift card at Sam's Club came with one of those awesome vinylmation pins! The sad thing is, I didn't like them too much when I went to Disneyland but seeing them again I realize they are pretty cool looking.

We have Giant Eagle grocery stores and you earn 20 cents off gas for every $50 you spend so I pay for my disney trips buy purchasing gift cards. So far for our trip in April I have bought $1500 worth of Gift cards and we have gotten 3 tanks of gas for free. That may not sound like a lot to some people but our trucks hold 30 gallons each so for us it saves us over $100 each time we fill up.

Is gas around $3 per gallon where you live? If so, that means you'd have to buy fifteen 20 cent discounts for it to be free. That's 15 * $50 = $750. So $750 per free tank. $1500 would be 2 free tanks, and 3 free tanks would cost you $2250.

The intention is not to challenge you, but to understand what I doing wrong in my figuring.

Does anyone know if the Disney GC's at Target are the "any amount up to $1000" or are they pre-determined increments?

I have $850 in DVC MF's coming up and if I can buy an $850 GC from Target on my REDCard, I'll save $42! It would be way too much hassle to buy that $850 in $25 increments. I would be on the phone for hours with member services trying to give them all of the card numbers:eek:. On top of that, I am not 100% confident that MS is set up to accept more than 2 forms of payment...or 2 or more GC's.

In case anyone ever needs to, you can call the phone number on the back of Disney gift cards (during normal business hours) and they can consolidate your gift cards into whatever you want. If you call after hours, you get re-routed to a department that will say it is not possible.

If you have more than about 10 Disney Gift cards, they'll ask you to email them the numbers on the cards and they cut and paste them into their system for consolidation.

I was on forum about saving $$ towards trips, and someone mentioned the great idea of purchasing Disney giftcards at grocery store when they offer incentives (like spend 30 in gc's and get 10 off next order).

Just your ho-hum one-third off Disney. :)

In Texas, at a low cost grocery store called H-E-B, they had a one third (plus rewards) off Disney deal in December 2010. Buy a $15 gift card, get a $5 HEB gift card. Link here:

The closest they've come to that since is a Buy a $50 gift card, get a $5 HEB gift card deal they had last May. Link here:

I'm in Atlanta and this weeks Publix ad has a coupon for buy $50 in gas cards save $10 but you must also purchase $25 in groceries. Their ad ends either Tuesday night or Wednesday depending on where you live so not much time left.

No, not around here in the Kansas City Metro either. Our grocery rewards programs exclude the purchase of any gift cards unfortunately. I'll have to stick with Target or Sam's Club.

I looked at Kroger today and they only had $25 gift cards. Has anyone seen a higher amount at Kroger?

I DID IT!!

I bought $850 in Disney Gift Cards (17 $50 cards) at Target today. I used my REDCard and, voila!...$42.50 came off my total!

My phone call with member services took just under 30 minutes, but 15 of that was waiting for a CM and another 10 on hold while all 17 cards were processed.

THANK YOU for the heads up on the Target deal. I will remember this for the future.

Yay! I got a $100.00 Target gift card for Christmas, I would rather take $100 off of my balance at Disney!

Op here- I was at my closest Target today, and cashier told me they don't sell Disney giftcards. I did look as well. I am still hoping Giant runs the $$ off groceries with purchase, but if they don't anytime soon, I guess I'll start calling other local Targets to see if they have Disney gc's...

Anyone know why some stores wouldn't sell them?

Does anyone know if Disney GC expire? I'd love to try buying them $50 at a time using at Target (thinking of using my mypoints rewards for a Target GC then use that to buy the Disney GC :thumbsup2) but we're not going until at least 2013 maybe 2014. Oldest DS wants to go back before he graduates HS but DH isn't ready to go back yet so it's not happening for at least 18 months.

Disney Gift Cards you get at stores do not expire. The Disney Rewards Card you get from the Disney Visa Rewards program does expire 12-23 months from when you get it.

My Taregt also does not sell Disney Gift Cards. :(

Did you guys look in the electronics section? This is where they are in my Target. Just bought one today - they only have the $50 card - but I'll take that $2.50 off!
