Buying Direct... Double points???

I've read several posts about people buying direct through Disney and when choosing their use year they buy xxx amount of points but get those same amount of points immediately

So lets say for instance I purchase direct with use year June. I understand that I'm not getting double points but in fact they are just giving me the points for this use year and then getting the same amount June 1 2017. but here is my question. If I bought today and I got those points immediately would I only have until May 31 to use them since I'm past banking???

Hope I worded this right and any info would be greatly appreciated

There is an exception for a new purchase and the normal banking deadline is not applicable.

Posted someplace else but seems like more applicable to this discussion:

Any recent info about incentives buying 25 point add on? Seems like I've heard of some "double point" offers. But maybe that's just the current years points or 2016 points for UY that haven't ended.

Anybody have first hand experience with what can be expected?

We will be trying to add 25 at SSR with Feb UY in the next 6 weeks. Curious if we'll have 2017 points even though it'll be June.

You will get your 2017 points. You would have had to buy in January to get last year's points.

This is over a week old but I'm not sure the underlying issue has been addressed. As noted, they are more liberal banking with retail purchases, however, it's not free points per se and it's often the same or less than you'd get resale. I've seen a couple of reports of members buying resale and being able to bank and I could argue that as a resale buyer, they should have the same options given that it's a membership function and a contractual issue. I'm not sure the division would hold up to scrutiny drawing a line between the 2 in this situation but it might be an uphill battle.

We bought resale in early 2015 and we were allowed to bank our points even though we were 1.5 months away from the start of our next use year-it was unexpected and we had been planning to figure out a way to use them before they expired. I think it may be something nice they do sometimes but cannot be counted on as it specifically says you must bank by the end of the 8th month of your UY. My understanding is that they pretty much always allow new retail buyers to bank beyond the 8 month cut off.

Just make the banking a requirement of the purchase. Lord knows that you will be paying for the privilege.

They changed the POS a few years ago to allow it up till the last day of the use Year

Did you just call up and ask them if this would be possible? That would be awesome if this could be done

Just bought 25 points and pushed for any incentive. Nada except a tote bag. If going for a low rofr inventory resort like bcv, I would recommend buying 3-6 months before your use year. You would then get current/next year points. I think though the month or two before Disney 'happens' to not buy or discolose those points for purchase - this way you can't double up the first year. For 2 months prior they had no March points. Then the first week of April they happened to have March points. Coincidence?

No I was just calling to try to get my DVC # and log in info asap in order to use the points before they expired-member services said not to worry so much that they'd help me out. When I finally got my DVC # they did. Not sure what your situation is but these were current UY points that had not been banked by the previous owner. If you buy a contract with points that have already been banked once they can it be banked again.
