Buying Cigarettes in parks/resorts

They are SUPPOSED to smoke only in designated areas, but my last two trips I saw many people smoking all over the place, including
walking down Main St after Wishes.

I've only seen it a few times. But I've gone out of my way to make a point to the person who's blowing smoke near me and my kids that they need to go somewhere else.

This drives me insane. There are so many kids there that simply should not be exposed to 2nd hand smoke.

Or burns which my DD got at DHS. Bad enough to go to First Aid. Folks trying to hide them and keeping low are right at stroller height.

Tell them to calculate how many packs a day times the number of days plus a few to be safe and bring that many. So expensive otherwise. If you are driving I'd pick them up in the south where they are cheaper on the way down.

I agree they are expensive there . We drive down so usually when we get into Virginia I stock up we are coming from NY so there is a big price difference.

I know they have cigars. The cigar smoker in me happened to check just to get a chuckle out of how much they were charging for Romeo and Julietas (a decent cigar, but shouldn't be over $10. They were charging around $15-$20)

Also, on DCL if you smoke in your cabin they charge an extra cleaning fee, I believe it's $250.00. And they know by the smell if you smoked in there.

Probably based on context, I totally agree.

Pretty sure DCL is one of the toughest with smoking, offering minimal areas where and hours when. They might want to plan ahead as they might have a hike to get to smoking area. Honestly if I were a smoker, I would not cruise DCL.

Yeah, I saw that too. They will be searching this whole trip for somewhere to smoke. LOL

Bring some nicotine gum or patches just in case. The ships have very limited areas. I will never understand spending so much time on an addiction....it runs your life.

The gas station across from Disney Springs has the cheapest on property. Depending on how much they are in your area, it might be cheaper to just bring some with.
The prices at the resorts are insane and they don't have a very big selection to choose from.

We did a Norway cruise two years ago. One of our daughters smokes. In the morning and after dinner we never saw her because there was a whole other culture to hang with in the smoking section. I found it sad that she missed so much time with her daughter, but that's what she chose to do. I don't get it but I guess non smokers never do. She is never allowed to smoke around us and I discouraged her daughter from visiting her in smoking section since it is so smoky there.

I rarely ventured into there either. The DCL app has a great texting feature so you can text your family smoker and tell them where to meet you because the fun doesn't stop for the rest of us just because it's "smoke time". I did things without him too though so it's fair. He wasn't interested in mixology while I think it's a blast.

Isn't that why Disney sells those spray/fan bottles? So guests can soak the cigarettes the inconsiderate addicts smoke outside the designated areas?

I've heard that the resorts have them in gift shops in a drawer. They are not on display. I always just bring my own. They don't take up a lot space in suitcase.

Also let them know that despite following the rules and smoking in the DSA's they will still receive the pariah treatment from many guests with their dirty looks, fake coughing, and murmuring!

Agree. I always carry my rescue inhaler into the parks and a CM on this board does too due to smoke drifting.

Just sharing a recent experience... this past trip for the first time we took a lot of family members to Disney on our DVC points. My younger brother smokes cigarettes and no one else in the party does. Let me tell you...what a cluster this was!! I never realized (considering we don't smoke) but there are VERY limited smoking areas in parks!!! Especially in the MK. My brother had to cross the freak*ng park to have a cigarette!! It was miserable for him! It made us all feel weird having him leave to have a "quick" cigarette...when in the meantime we went on two rides and walked around before he even got back to us. He had to ask where there were smoking areas everywhere we were...It was hard for him and us! I guess it was just an inconvenience to him to have to smoke in Disney because it was so limited. So from my experiences with this, let them know how limited they will be on places they can smoke and maybe even have them familiar with the allowed areas before going to parks as this may save them SOME time. Maybe nicotine patches or gum could be helpful for any urges they may have so that they don't have to really miss out on too much Disney time! Have fun!!

I am going on a "family" vacation with my inlaws, both my sister in law and brother in law smoke, is there a place to buy cigarettes at the resort(we are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge) or at Magic Kingdom. I am trying to prepare them for the trip in 2 weeks. Thanks for any help!!

Yes, but they keep them behind the counter. You have to ask for them.

Thanks, I have told them it's limited smoking areas there. After the parks, we are doing a DCL 4 night, I think that's bad too. I guess they will figure it out, but at least I let them know they need to plan ahead and take enough for Disney and the cruise.

On DCL ships it's the same. Smoking only in designated smoking areas only. No smoking on verandas.

Also remind them not to throw/discard anything over the side. A lit cigarette is very dangerous at sea and can also result in your family member being removed from the cruise at the next port.

Agreed - I have respatory problems and the smoke just reaks havoic on it

OP - maybe tell them that you would rather them not spend their time smoking? This would be a great reason for them to quit!
