We have a full size Evenflo stroller that we don't want to bring, however our small "mall" stroller that is basically an umbrella with a basket won't work for us either. We find the small stroller too short for pushing all day and the wheels are a pain to steer with. Has anyone had any luck with less expensive, smaller strollers that might address these concerns? We are not really tall (5'8" and 5'10), so we don't need a specialty stroller by any means, but need something better than the real cheapos. My dd3 is 24lb and will be in it the most, however I anticipate trading off with ds5 who is 40lb. Any ideas???? thanks!

I would suggest the maclaren volo with canaopy accessory pack. I got it for $100 with free shipping and it is great. It holds up to 55 pounds so it is good for the older child as well as the 24 pound child. Lightweight. decent basket and folds easily

We have the Chicco Caddy stroller and it is great. My DH and I hated the umbrella for the same reasons. This stroller is taller and easier to steer. It does not have a basket but I bought a mesh bag for the back and have been able to put a ton of stuff in it. We used this stroller throughout Italy and then took it to Disney with us. It costs about $50 and is well worth the money.

The caddy is cool. The only thing is it is a little narrow. I was going toget it but had DD sit in it first and she was squished. It is a great stroller though. Just make sure you try it out. Our Target here sells them.

I rented one at the park and that seemed the best way for us. We didn't have to carry it with us, but got a sturdy stroller there, granted you do not own it then. As for home use and on, I used to use the umbrella strollers and found them to be more of a burden then they are worth, Graco has a great stroller for a bit over $100, rock solid, can not remember the model, will get it and post it if I can find it.

How much do you want to spend? We bought a Kidco LS2000 stroller from this seller on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2989&item=4346730700&rd=1
I would recommend it. DH is 6'2" and I'm 5'6" and we both have to hunch over to push our Chicco Capri (similar to the Caddy) and are constantly kicking the rear wheels, so we decided to buy the Kidco for the parks. It has a 50lb weight limit, so should work for your older ds as well. This price, at $89.99, is really good too. They normally sell for $125 or so. Epinions.com also has a few reviews you can read there as well.

Thanks everyone for your replies. The trick will now be finding these strollers in Canada and figuring out which one will work out the best. Your replies have helped to give me a place to start...

Thanks again...

Kolcraft has one (we actually have three of them). It's an umbrella stroller, but a little taller than most - my friend who is 5'8" has one and bought another for her son.... It has a canopy and a small mesh bag and a cup holder (the older models didn't have the bag or cup holder) ... It's about $40-50 and is currently being sold at the Once Upon a Toy store at Downtown Disney.

Even though I didn't start the thread, I definitely learned plenty. The replies have givern me some other options and brands when I go to replace the stroller we use.

Im 5'10" and had the Chicco Caddy. It was a decent stroller for the money, but after a while, it was too hard for me to push for long periods. I kept kicking the wheels and had to either hunch over, or extend my fingers to push it. I finally gave it to a shorter friend and splurged on the Mac Quest after reading reviews on here. Wish I had bought it a lot sooner as it is a dream! It can support my almost 3 yr old son up to 55 lbs, the sunshade can be moved so that it covers his face when he naps, reclines to several positions, and has a small storage basket underneath (I also got the Mac mesh bag that hangs from the handles and use this more often). It pushes so easily (one handed) and the handles are much higher and padded which is nice for my husband and I. I dont plan on using the bulky travel system with my next baby, but will use this instead!

We bought this at KMart and have retired the large stroller. We love it. It is light weight, has a pretty large basket and was only $50. The max weight is listed at 40lbs, but it should still work for you.

I bought it in Orlando and intended to leave it behind as we didn't have room in the car, but I loved it so much that I had the hotel store it and a friend picked it up a month later on her vacation.

Also, invest in some stroller hooks. They are cheap and add extra storage room. I paid about $5 at BabiesRUs.

HI! We just bought a combi stroller this month! It is GREAT! 11bs and folds like umbrella stroller ... even has carrying handle attached ... can't wait to try it out in May at WDW. We went to a large mall this weekend and I could even steer with one hand going up ramps and getting down small aisles. :) Good Luck! I bought it from their website and got a great deal and free shipping!

have you considered renting? I'm not crazy about the rental ones at the park because they don't recline to lay for a nap. I don't want to bring our evenflo on the plane. I think we're renting. Good luck

how hard is it to rent a stroller in the parks. Last time we went, our dd's were 2 and 5.5. I brought the double stroller. What a pain. This time we are staying at Boardwalk, so Epcot is walking distance and MGM shouldn't be that bad. I dont want to bring a stroller at all, but I think my 3yr old will need it. The problem is my 6.5 yr old who weighs about 65 lbs. I know she will get tired and I don't know of any stroller that will hold that weight except the ones in Disney. Can anyone help?
