Buying an Express Pass?

OK... I'm confused. I've never been to Universal, and we'll be in Orlando this weekend, going to IOA on Sunday. I have been reading your wonderful board here (I'm usually in Disney's :) ) and I thought I understood the Express thing. BUT now I don't. I've seen posts about people buying express passes... is this something different than getting a ticket for a return time. I'm so confused... Please Help!!

Thanks in Advance

There are three kinds of express.

First, if you are staying at one of the onsite hotels, your room key is your express. All day, no limits.

There's the free express. It's similar to fast pass, except you choose what time you want to come back, and if you dont like the available times, you dont have to get the pass. This is the one that gives you the printed ticket.

The paid express is a combination of the onsite and the free. You pay a fee per person ($10-$25, varies) and then each person gets a pass. This pass can be used at all attractions in the listed park (tickets are park specific) that have an express entrance. You can only use this once per attraction.

Hope that helps.

Thank you! Thank you!

No wonder I was confused ... haha~! I felt like I was trying to solve a mystery... Reading one clue then the next, and couldn't make the pieces fit together!

I get it now... sometimes I just need it laid out elementary style :)

One more question...

Do you think that IOA will be really busy this Sunday between 9A-2P. Should I buy an express pass?

Thanks Again, Dark Marauder!

I dont expect sunday to be busy at IOA at all.

Though I do believe they open at 10, not 9. There will be a few busy times, but overall, the day will be slow.

We went to IOA yesterday, and really enjoyed it!

We decided to get the express pass, and I'm glad we did. The lines weren't bad (15 minute waits), but since we didn't have much time, it made a big difference in our day. Thanks for your help!

I will be posting a very short trip report sometime this week. Obviously short... we were only there 5 hours! haha

Thanks again!

Were those waits with or without the pass?

The 15 minute waits were without an express pass. We walked right on everything. We only spent about 3 hours touring the park and doing attractions, then sat down for a meal at Mythos. The last hour, we spent taking our time and looking in shops.
