if you are buying an annual pass what do you need with you. should you pay at the ticket window or at the annual pass office. how long does it all take?

my mam is joining me in october but is buying an ap and will pay the taxes at the hotel.

You can either buy it at the window bfore you go in and get a temp pass which you then exchange for the real AP at the AP office

or get a day pass and use this to get in then get the AP from the AP office and get the money back on the day ticket (as long as is wasnt bought as part of a package)

or I think you can do it at the gate of the studios and get it all done in one lot (no need to go to AP office)

You can also get it all done without going anywhere near the AP office in the main park if you go to Bureau Donald to do it. I did mine there last year, it took about 5 minutes because there was no-one else there at all :goodvibes. I've also done it by going to Guest Services at the entrance to the main park, I got a temporary ticket and receipt there, which I had to take to the AP office at some time that same day to exchange for a full permanent AP. It doesn't take long to do either way.

thank you both that really helps, as we wont arrive till mid afternoon on our first day i want it done as quickly as possible

where is the bureau donald, is that on the side of the entrance as if you were walking towards salon mickey. can anyone use this?

thats it Sonya, if you're walking towards Guest Services, and its straight in front of you, Bureau Donald is on your left, and the side revolving doors to the Disneyland Hotel are on your right. Yes, its open to anyone - actually, I don't know what its main purpose is!

do ou get discounts on rooms with an annual pass? or does it work out cheaper to bu a package with an annual pass?

You do get discounts but they arent always very good. You can also phone up to book room only but again you often dont save much. Any offers such as 40% off/ day night free etc arent included with room only so it often works out cheaper then to get a package which means you get tickets you dont use.
This is why a lot of people with APs stay off site instead - if you have the dream AP you still get in for EMH

If I booked a room for me and dd and added dh on at room when we got there is it guaranteed the wont charge full price for him?

Yes, see this thread here where others only have to pay a couple of euros in city taxes. Don't forget that you'll have to allow for a single adult supplement.

As Elaine said, you need to remember you will have an under-occupancy supplement to add to your package booking if you only book yourself and your DD in on the package. Since last Summer certainly, folk here have not had any problems adding extra guests names to their hotel rooms when they get to their hotels.

To get an idea of whether the AP for your OH will save you any money, how about pricing up a one adult and free child package for some dates in low winter season (which tends to be cheaper than the others), and then price up for 2 adults and one free child for the same dates with the same offer.
That should give you an idea of whether its going to be cheaper/more beneficial to get an AP for your OH, or just stick with the package for you all.
