Hi,

We currently own two contracts both at Saratoga with total points being 200. We are looking to add 25-50 additional points this week. Does anyone know what Disney is charging for adding points at resorts other than AKV or BLT? I heard a rumor that they were all the same dollar amount right now if so why would anypone buy through Disney when the TimeShare store has them for $70.00

no closing costs and you get pts right away if you buy direct. financing is also generally easier from what i understand.

TTS is a great option if you are not in a hurry and can afford to wait for the right contract at the right resort with a matching UY month.

A related question:

If the OP is successful in buying a resale contract at a different resort from where they currently own but with the same UY, does the new contract become an add-on (or whatever the technical term is) for one of their existing contracts?

I believe DVC is charging $112 less a $6.25 discount for 50 or more. Talk to your Guide to confirm.

I doubt you will find a 25-50 pt contract for $70 each. Larger contracts, yes, but not necessarily the smaller ones.

If you end up with a different Use Year in your resale add-on, you'll have to be a bit more careful about how you manage the points. You'll also have some other hurdles if the two contracts (current plus new resale) are set-up as separate Master contracts by DVC. If they are separate masters, it's much more difficult for you to combine points between the two for a single reservation.

You can ask the resale broker to request that the resale be added as a sub-contract to your existing master, but it isn't always done.

If you buy direct you get the same Use Year, points are immediately available, DVC will finance, the contracts are set up with the preferred master/subordinate relationship and you will get points for your current Use Year (which may or may not be the case with a resale purchase.)

Either way (resale or direct) the add-on contract is a separate legal entity which can later be sold if necessary.

Yes, I was just at WDW on Monday and spoke with my guide in person about various things regarding VGC at DLR, and the current pricing of the WDW resorts did come up...$112 pp is correct for all resorts direct from Disney. The minimum requirement for cash purchases is 25, and 50 is the minimum for financed purchases. There is a $5 pp credit at BLT and a $6.25 pp credit at SSR and AKV in the form of a gift card that can be used as an additional down payment amount if you are financing, used to reduce the required cash for a cash purchase, or given to you to use as you see fit.

For anyone interested in VGC as well, the price is $112 with a $5 pp credit if you purchase 100 or more points, no pp credit applies if you purchase less than 100 - but you can purchase the same 25 for cash or 50 financed as anywhere else. Sales to anyone (existing DVC or not) begin on March 26th (currently in Founding Member sales only). My guide did say, however, that the incentives for VGC will most likely be changing prior to the 26th when it goes on sale to everyone else...

To add on at BLT, you must purchase at least 100 points to qualify for any of the incentives (including the $5.00 off gift card). Unless you get special approval, you will pay the full $112/ppt.

My guide was offering me BLT with the $5 pp credit for less than 100 points. I would get the credit and developer's points if I purchased 100 pts or more, and then the cruise if I did 160+. That's why I stated it matter of factly, because that's what I was offered on Monday while sitting in the DVC sales center at SSR. If I bought 25-99 with cash, or 50-99 financed, I could get the $5 pp credit. She didn't leave the room or call anyone for special approval, just matter of factly went through the various incentives with me as I laid out above. I didn't do any of them simply because I'm more interested in VGC than BLT. I would have to purchase 100 or more at VGC to get the $5 credit, but not at BLT.
