Buying a Wheelchair

Hi Onelittlespark

Just to say I know what you mean about getting around Exeter as DS2 is in a wheelchair and we live in Cullompton. Exeter is our local big shopping area. It has hills you don't feel when you're not pushing!!

I wish you luck with dealing with Exeter Mobility centre when you do get your diagnois as you will need to be very determined about your needs and stick to what you feel you need. It takes time and a certain self belief. they are , as are all NHS places very budget minded, but make sure that if you are not happy with what they offer you say so, it might delay your getting what you feel will suit your needs, but better that, then being given something that in a few months is not suitable!! and then you have to go thought the whole thing all over again.

I am pleased you are mobile at the moment and althought you have had to buy your chair it will help you in the long run when it comes to being assessed by the mobility centre as you will know what you like/ don't like about your chair, how it can be improved to help your mobility. What if you need help would help your carers etc.

Hope this is of some help
