Hi there

We go to WDW next year and I am reluctant to bring my mclaren buggy from the UK , so was thinking about buying a cheapy one out there. Ds will be 4 but is on the small side, so where can I buy a cheapy stroller as you call them over there near to disney. It just needs to do the job for our 2 week holiday and maybe someone has an idea for our 7 year old. Is there a stroller which would accommodate both kiddiewinkles or should I just share 1 between them.

Many thanks in Advance

Louise xx

WDW is virtually aswim with Maclaren strollers so personally, I think yours should be just fine. But if you don't want to bring it why not rent instead? A double would easily accomodate your smaller child and your 7-yr old as well. Here's a site that has information, prices, and pictures of the rental strollers as well as general stroller info:

http://allearsnet.com/pl/strol_faq.htm

I have seen "cheapo" umbrella strollers for sale at Downtown Disney for about $30-40. You could spend less and pick one up at the Super-Walmart or Target if you have a rental car or are stopping to pick up grocery items on your way to the hotel from the airport.

hth.

The double strollers WDW rents would probably work well for you, but at $18 per day, if you are there for 2 weeks you're basically buying an expensive stroller so you may be better off just buying a stroller for the trip.

If you buy in the US, the only stroller (buggy) I've found that has a higher weight limit is the Maclaren. Most other strollers go to 40-45 pounds and the Mac goes to 55.

I just bought a Mac Twin on eBay for less that the cost of renting for the 11 days I'll be there. I may resell the stroller when we get home, which would bring my cost way down, but I realize that I may also fall in love with the stroller and just keep it a while longer.

Thanks for that. We reckon on our first day we hope to make MK as we get in at lunchtime for a change, and we'll rent one if we can and then get one at walmart the next day when we go shopping and to our welcome meeting.

we got a cheap umbrella stroller, and I then gave it to our mousekeeper as I left. I had pre-printed a certificate saying that I was giving it as a gift. She was very grateful to receive it. We made our 7 yr old DD walk, with frequent rest stops, not that she didn't miss the stroller mightily.

I also think your Maclaren would be fine to bring, but here are a few more ideas for you:
1) order a "cheapie" stroller online and have it delivered to your resort
2) rent from a baby's best friend ( abbf.com ). They have singles, doubles (with weight limits) and a sit-n-stand, but it only holds a total of 80 lbs, so not sure if there are solutions for DD.

Brilliant will do that.

Hee, hee Hi again
I think we are having the same ideas. I too have been thinking about the stroller situation for our two year old (as well as the car seat situation). This last weekend I ended up getting a £30 stroller from Mothercare. I wanted my son to get used to it before our trip. I too thought about buying a cheap one out there and leaving it at the villa, but I wanted something for him at the airport. There are a lot sales here at the momment, and I noticed the perfect umbrella stroller, which reclines, in Argos for only £15. Unfortunately it was out of stock in our area, but might be available in yours.

Don't forget -- the MacLaren has longer handles than most any other brand I've seen. I have the MacLaren umbrella stroller (under $100 on ebay) and wouldn't go without it. If you push a cheap little umbrella stroller, your back will be killing you from having to lean over and you will also miss all the storage space you're used to. Even with a long plane trip, I think you are best with an ultralight MacLaren. My children don't like the rental strollers -- the hard plastic isn't that comfortable and they get really yucky after it rains. :)

Also, keep in mind that you will most want that stroller at the end of the day -- tired/sleeping children are no fun to CARRY after you leave the park, even if you are on the monorail.

I had thought about the blue one from argos. But dh says there's no way we are taking one. So my cousin will check out a stroller for us and recommend one.

Height isn't a problem when you are a shortie anyway. McLarens have sometimes been too high for me.
