Went to WDW 5 years ago, going again soon. Last time I bought the unofficial gide to WDW, and it was great-- lots of good info.
Which book gives the best, unvarnished info? Thanks, I should probably get this soon and make all my reservations asap. Jenprincess:

unofficial guide is my choice.

but you can find a ton more info here on the DIS: pictures of dishes from many of the restaurants at the dining forum, rules for using MYW tickets at theme park attractions and strategies forum, information about renting DVC reservations from owners to save a little money on the DVC forums.

definitely take a little time and learn to use the search function here and you'll find out a lot...

I would consider The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World to be the Bible of Disney Travel Guides. I also use their companion Website, www.touringplans.com. We have been to Disney many, many times, but I still always use and consult their Best Days/Crowd Calendar to plan our trips.

And yes, if you are planning any Table Service/Sit Down/Character Meals, and you are leaving soon, you need to get on the Disney Website and see what restaurants have availablity. In the past 5 years, since you have been, the Disney Dining Plan has become VERY popular, therefore the restaurants are usually booked up very quickly, many at the 180 mark when the Advance Dining Reservation Window opens up. Most of the popular restaurants and character meals will not be taking walk-ups. The Dining Search on the WDW website is very user friendly and will let you know what's available.

Good luck and have a magical vacation!

I love the Unofficial Guide for the in depth on Disney Vacation planning. I now use Passporter guide to WDW for quick glance answers, maps and the planner/journal/organizer pockets.

I love The Unofficial Guide and the Touring Plans. I had great success with the plans and found the information I gathered to be reliable, accurate, and adaptable to our travel plans and needs. I am using it again to assist in planning my upcoming trip. Nothing else even compares in the printed form that I have found yet.
