Can anyone on here offer advice on purchasing a camera in Orlando? I have an eye on a Panasonic DMC-TZ3 which retails online on US sites for between $220 and $240. It is the same price in pounds in the UK.

Anyone know of a reputable camera shop in the Orlando area that I will be able to pick one of these up at.

See if it is available online from Wal Mart and you can do an in store pickup. that way you can take it back to Asda if there is a problem. If not go to somewhere like Ritz, avoid the camera/ electrical shops on the 192 and I Drive as there have been some reports on here of tourists being riped off.

we also brought a camera in walmart as ours died in the middle of wishes.
;) i know nothing about ccameras so you may need to find an expert, but my little canon is great and v cheap compared with uk prices, oh memory cards are very cheap there too.
tracy

I find memory prices much cheaper to buy here.
Circuit City have the DMC TZ4 cannot see the TZ3.
Have seen it on the net here for approx £138

Another option is to purchase one before you go at amazon.com and have it delivered to your hotel in Orlando (just add another address to the amazon a/c). They have no problem delivering to a hotel. That's what I did with memory cards on our last trip.

I'd quite like to buy the kids some cheap & cheerful ones, but if they're rechargeable how would that work back on UK voltage?

We bought our camera in Circuit City in Orlando. Brillant shop, hubby could die and go to heaven in that shop.:rotfl2:

Many thanks to those that replied, having done quite a bit of research on t'interweb I have decided to go for the just released Panasonic TZ5 which is an updated version of my original choice as it is listed on the Costco website at just $299.

This camera sells at £299 here with a few online retailers doing it for around £250. It will be almost £150 cheaper than I could get it from a bricks and mortar store in the UK, and of course I can probably take it back to Costco UK in the event of any problems.

do you need to buy a different battery charger as the uk and usa voltages are different, or can you buy a uk charger over here instead?

probably just need a plug to step it up, i got one for an electricial item DW got in the states, got it in Maplins.
I have a panasonic bought here , i charged the battery in the states with an Adaptor.

My DH bought a universal adapter from Walmart and we just plug the US adapter into the Universal adapter and it charges fine:thumbsup2
