Your logic here makes me concerned about your plan to purchase a second use year. You want to purchase another contract so you have more points to book larger rooms and travel with a larger party. That tells me that you intend to combine points from both contracts for the same trip. That is exactly what makes multiple use years a nightmare to manage.Yeah I'm not sure we would be combining points either. Our reasons to get another contract is to 1) be able to travel with grandparents more while they are around and able to come along and 2) be able to get at least 1 bedrooms so that we can save a bit of money by not always having to eat out and having the kitchen right there.
I have two use years. I have one small contract that is used exclusively for a Food & Wine weekend trip every year. That one contract stands alone; I never combine points from my others and I never use it for a different purpose. That's the only reason I have the contract, so it is manageable. I you'll use the separate contracts on their own for their own purposes and never combine them, then a second use year can make sense. But if you plan to combine the points for a larger room or longer stay, stick with the same use year.
