Buying 1 night at campground to use payment plan then canceling.

Been a few years now since I've had a Disney trip. So much has changed since 2009 I see.

I have a question regarding paying in payments if you book on the disney website.

I know you have to pay a $200 deposit then you can pay off your stay over time as long as its paid in full before 45 days out from your trip. As I was toying around this morning, I booked a campsite for 1 day and then ordered two 4 day tickets (one for each park).

The total was $683 and change. At checkout it said I only had to make a down payment of $51 and not the $200. Im guessing this is because Im paying for the lodging in full (1 night) so it doesn't default to the $200 deposit.

I full plan to cancel the entire reservation before 45 days out and am wondering if this can be done so as to give our party "time" to pay for the tickets which is the largest expense of our trip.

I have no interest in whatever the new fastpass is and am not doing it for that reason ( I dont even understand the new FP thing). Im happy with the old fastpass if it still exists. We just would like to be able to make payments on our park tickets is all.

Has anyone done this before? Can I just cancel the room and they would still send my tickets?

Old fastpass does not exist anymore. Fastpass+ really isn't bad at all. We were concerned at first but ended up loving everything about fp+ & magic bands!
I'm not sure about the tickets... If you cancel the room, I would think they would be able to still supply you with tickets... but I think you would be better off just saving the money then buying the tickets.

I loved just going up to a kiosk and getting a print out of when to show up for a ride with old FP. It seemed so simple and easy.

Now Im reading about people booking rides like a month in advance? How do you even know that far in advance which ride you will be on and when? Reserving a ride if different than reserving a place to eat.

As I said, Im still very unfamiliar with the new FP but if I have to book that far out for a ride it will be useless to me. From what I've seen so far, it seems like Disney just complicated it in a micro managing kind of way. But, I need to try to understand it better before I make a full judgement I guess.

Why not buy Disney gift cards to pay for tickets instead? Make a "payment" to purchase a gift card, accumulate them, then use them to purchase the tickets. It would accomplish the same thing without the hassle of making reservations and taking up a camping spot that you have no intention of using.

No, Disney will refund your payments when you cancel. It may take up to 6 weeks to get a credit back from Disney.

You need 2 four-day base tickets. That's $313.11 x 2 = $626.22. If (for example) you have 5 months to save up, that's $125.25 a month, or approx $32 each week, to be put aside. If you don't want to bank it, then keep a savings envelope and write entry notes on the outside.
