All reservations are based on availability, so it will depend on when you purchase and what/where/when you are wanting to reserve.

At this point, reservations for May are open to all DVC members for all DVC resorts since we are well within the 7 month reservation window. May reservations at all resorts have been open to reserve since October.

As long as you are flexible with your dates, resort and villa type you should be fine to find something available.

Enjoy! :)

IF you buy directly through Disney, some have had great luck with getting their guides to book them the first vacation as part of the sale.

They seem to be able to create some "magic" and find inventory that current members can not.

If you are serious about going via Disney, I would mention that to your guide. When I added on BLT points in 2009, the incentive at first was matching SSR developer points. I told the guide I could not even consider it unless I knew I could get a reservation as we already had a trip planned. He put me on hold and came back and said it would not be a problem getting me an SSR reservation.

Good luck!

;) Like Sandi, the fact that our Guide could get us 2 studio SV at AKV in October (we bought in June) sealed the deal. He did a three way call to make sure everything went well and just stayed in the background while I give MS my info. In fact he jumped on the opportunity to tell me he could get us the villas if we purchased, put me on hold and go the rooms.

Our recent purchase may help as it's with a similar time-frame-- actually briefer.

We made an offer on a 250-point contract at SSR on Sat. October 16th. We were able to close just before Thanksgiving and get in the Disney system around December 2nd.

We were able to make reservations for a Jan 16-25 trip, but we have to change rooms. We took a 1BR at SSR for the night of Jan 16th, and then we're in a 2BR at OKW for 6 nights. There was availability for the remaining two nights, but my in-laws are leaving and the kids wanted to try another place. We're thus staying two nights in a 1BR at VWL. In short, we were able to get what we wanted at less then 60 days out, but we had to be flexible. Everything also fell into place.

We found the Timeshare store great to work with. I'm sure that other companies are too. My biggest advice is that if you want to have the closing move quickly is that you talk with the sales agent about a fair price and offer cash (if you can). We purchased a loaded 250 point contract at SSR for $62 per point with 2010 points paid for by the seller. I saw other people go through ROFR at $59 or with seller paying more costs. I also saw higher prices. We tried to find a middle ground and not fuss too much about $1-3 per point. We did this because we wanted to close quickly. It worked for us, but we had to keep calling back and waiting around.

On another note, we are now planning our next big trip for Dec. 30, 2010 - January 9, 2011. We'll book that one at the THV at 11 months to make sure we get what we want and make use of our annual passes for two extended trips. I'm sure that we'll also do some last-minute trips too, but we had success at buying resale and doing a last-minute trip this year.

I'm sure that others will say that January and May are different. This is true, but we found some magic and made it work in a tighter time-frame than what you are facing.

Good luck!
