Here is my situation - We are going to WDW next week, then again next fall for 2 days before taking a DCL cruise then again for a week long trip in fall/winter 2010. My plan was to go take the DVC tour next week when we go, next fall rent points to stay in a DVC resort for the 1st time, then buy (probably anyway) a 75-100 pt contract resale. Now I see WDW is offering 100 pt contracts to new buyers at AKV, so I am considering buying now, but I am not sure, WWYD?

You have never stayed at AKL, why would you buy there?

We have visited there (AKL) and really liked it, seen pics of the room and liked that, seen plans for Kidani Village and liked that too and I believe the 100 pt special deal being offered by DVC is only valid at AKL.

What's this have to do with the OPs question? I've never stayed there and I've purchased points at AKV.

I agree with the previous poster who suggested taking the tour next week. I don't think the special will go away too soon. This way if you decide to purchase you'll have additional knowledge to base your decision.

The OP asked WWYD. I would never buy anywhere that I have never stayed. Walking through the resort and looking at the models isn't the same as staying there. The idea is to buy at your favorite resort to use the 11 month booking rule to your advantage. If you have never stayed there, how do you know that it's your favorite?

One thing that might sway me (JMHO here), is that you have so many trips coming up. Also, with this new 100 point buy in.....don't know when that might go away and if it were me, I'd seriously consider jumping on it, also, prices WILL increase, but again when that is happening is not known.

Go over to AKV next week and then take into consideration everything else and you'll have a better base for a decision.

Good luck and enjoy all of your trips!

P.S. AKV is gorgeous - we just added on there and we've been die hard BWV owners/lovers since day one (still are;) ) We are very happy to own both :cutie:

If you are going to be there next week, take the time to go visit each of the 6 DVC locations. Also ride the monorail and look at BLT under construction. I don't think the tour takes you to each of the resorts...I never did the tour. It is easiest to get to all the resorts if you have a car.

As you look at resorts, think of what parts of DW you plan to visit the most and if that resort meets those needs. We bought resale at BWV due to its proximity to Epcot and Holywood Studios. We also like people watching and the boardwalk is great for that. We did not consider AKL due to its distance to just about everything. We did love the lodge for everything else.

Good Luck in your decision. Whatever you choose, remember, there is no wrong decision. Each resort is fantastic and has its advantages and disadvantages.
